Who would she end up with? How would Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Draco, Snape, Dumbledore, Voldemort, Sirius, Neville, The Dursleys react to her? So many other questions come to mind. What do you guys think?

One is a really funny politics thread that has some great insight into the differences between white people and brown people, based off of two different videos by the same Indian artists... I'm sure he's just trying to get back into the swing of things...

Moving on I guess Our triumphant returning scholar starts a fanfic “what if” that is as complex as: rule 63 one of the characters, is anything at all different? is everything different? or does nothing change?

In my opinion: Yes

Best of all we get two chapters in one day (how prolific!) in the WbA of a story whose title reads as if someone left out a word, maybe even a few.

My favorite part though is how the second chapter has the same title as an old HP/NT lorddwar fic, and I honestly don’t think that’s on purpose, but it did make me realize that an Independent!Harry fic from 2005 is more compelling and fun to read than the author’s story with half of a name.

There is an assortment of horrible fics that deal with that hypothesis. Personally, I think Voldemort would just go after Neville instead, since it would seem more likely to him that a male would be able to defeat him rather than a female.

But here's another question... what if Voldemort was born a female?

Voldemort went after Harry because he was a half blood like himself. I don't think gender matters to Voldemort as much as blood.

 

Lots of things would change, because of one little line:

and he shall mark him as his equal.

 

If you're writing a fem!Harry story it's not hard to write a gender neutral prophecy :facepalm

 

I gave that reply as little thought as the original question.

There are literally millions of different ways fem!Harry could play out, because just being female does not give you a personality.

 

How do you know fem!harry wouldn't identify as a male?

The prophecy in referring to "him" is actually just using the correct pronouns to prevent triggering anyone that listens to it.

 

I remember when I thought 'trigger' warnings were a passing fad in FFNet summaries :/ .

 

I get angry when I see it thrown around, in fandom, on blogs, on the net in general, because "trigger" has an actual meaning and purpose. It pisses me off when its used for everything from:

a) I wish to avoid this
b) I am offended by this
c) I find this disturbing/shocking/upsetting

The only legitimate uses IMO are for people who have ACTUAL difficulties like PTSD or an addiction. I remember an excellent example of the latter here on DLP, in the Quit the Fuck Out of Smoking thread, many of us discussed triggers that pushed us to smoke, the one that always stuck with me was Lungs , who IIRC would stand in doorways outside his middle school when he started smoking as a kid, so leaning in a doorway for any real amount of time would set him jonesing.

That's actual serious shit, while I understand that someone with a thin skin might be very offended when addressed the wrong way, I somehow doubt a monarch who constantly wanted the exact right title used would start bitching about being triggered.

With regard to the topic of this thread...either everything, nothing, or somewhere in between. It depends on how much emphasis you want to give the characters in affecting the plot - a lot, if not all of the key plot points wouldn't necessarily be affected in the slightest.
