The answers are: yes partially but poorly, no they wouldn't, and she'd try but fail.

    Hope that helps!

We have seen how close Ron and Harry are. So would Fem Harry really turn down Ron? Who would she have gone with to the yule ball?

A female Harry may not even befriend Ron.

Well... sortof. It's been on hiatus for ages. The author is pretty ill or something, I dunno. But yeah. That one does a very nice job of addressing how relationships might logically change given genderswap. Only one possible interpretation though.

If Harry had been born female, how different would canon be?

Harry as a character sprung to JKR's mind fully visualized, so to take a canon perspective on this, we'd be jiggling JKR's brain in this alt AU.

JKR: Okay, so we'll do the boarding school thing; our Miss Potter is a tomboy, so that boy-readers might be able to identify with the rough and tumble hero thing. She'll be geeky and gawky and uncertain but not the brain trust of my Exposition assistant.

She'll need a plain name but one subtly associated with rulership, to contrast Hermione's: Catherine? Elizabeth? Gloria -ugh, no.

Jane - like Jane Seymour or even Jeanne d'Arc. Also the Janus reference to hint at having two heads to deal with. It's perfect.

Janey Rose Potter [Rose Potter? No, that's ridiculous. Use a flower name that's less obvious- for the meter, it should be 3 syllables - Jane buh-buh-buh Potter, but without unfortunate initials, so no A--... or K, or R, otherwise people might think I'm projecting.

    Letters I can't use - A, C, K, M, P, R, V - Hyacinth? Better than Honeysuckle...

Jane Starlily Potter (it was the 70's after all)... eh, we'll work on it.

By dint of destiny and the tropes of child hero literature, she'll still suffer under monstrous relatives only to be saved by Hagrid... except it's a little weird to have the girl grabbed by a hairy mountain of a man... we should send someone equally loyal and quirky- Sprout, with more foliage in the robes than would seem comfortable.

So why does she suffer? Her mum sacrificed her life to protect her [... and here follows the whole Snape-Lily-James dynamic] and now Snape has to face her daughter- as much unlike Lily physically as possible, but with the eyes to match - eyes being gateways to the soul and all.

She'll be mouthy and a bit messy- no girly-girl to tempt the male Dursleys, please, and Petunia harps on her like a misbegotten.... house-elf. Dating should generally be in the background until as late as possible, so she'll be flat as a board until she defeats Voldemort. We'll touch on first kisses and all, but any boy trying to date her will feel out-macho'd by the girl who kills serpents and outflies dragons. Neville. It'll take a while before he's ready to speak his heart. Perfect.

    ...

    etc.

JKR circulates the story. Editors keep coming back saying, "It's charming and all, but this is a boy audience that you're targeting. Shouldn't it be a boy hero? Or are you one of those writers?"

    Sigh

'Harry had always been small and skinny for his age...'

Iris was the obvious choice, wordhammer, and Iris/Luna is the only possible pairing.
