    Meh, I guess it's because I don't see colonizing space (or making it easier) as a worthy pursuit. When I say "get into space," I think of it in the same way of going out sailing; a nice past-time or weekend activity.

    That being said, a trillion dollars could get me one of these:

    I see it more as a survival strategy. While we're limited to just one planet there is still the risk of being completely wiped out by a meteor impact, or some other cataclysmic event. Spread to other planets/moons and we're pretty much guaranteed the security of not being killed in a single collision.
