Hi, I'm searching for a story & yes, I did look through this site before posting here. Trouble is, I don't know the author or what it's called; I just remember reading it a year ago.

It's Harry/Ginny. Not sure what house he's in.

Even through Harry is the BWL & it follows the major events of the books, nobody ever really notices Harry. No one pays him any attention. (either that or they all hate him)(yes, even in the wizarding world). Ginny finally notices him around book 4 or 5 & they start studying together & working out a way to beat Voldie. I think the focus a lot on wards & runes. They get married either before the graduate or just after & eventually beat Voldie. After they win, H & G somehow get sent back in time in their younger bodies to when James & Lily are still alive. (Ginny isn't born yet so hangs around in spirit form).

They find out why no one noticed Harry in the previous time line. Aparently Dumbles hung a crystal or something above Harry's cot or something like that which was meant to soak up all the love that his parents & every one had for him. Then his parents died & all he got was the scorn of the Dursley's. That somehow made everyone else feel that way towards him also.

Does anyone know what story this is? It's been bugging me for months now.

From the description, at first I thought it might be Unsung Hero, but then you went way off into territory I've never heard of. Sorry, I can't help.

Incidentally, you should probably go introduce yourself.

It does sound suspiciously like Unsung Hero, but H/G with extra stuff that sounds ghey. It's probably in buried in one of the generic C2's on ff.net.

 

It's most likely a fabrication of your own imagination. I've failed to come up with worse plot bunnies while consciously trying.

Didn't that plot device never actually happen in Unsung Hero (with Dumbles putting a Fidelius Curse on Harry)? I sort of remember expecting that to be the answer and then it not ever coming up, but it could just be behind the mental block I slammed down on pretty much all of Unsung Hero post-Flitwick-Insanity.

As for your story, I've no idea and I doubt anyone here will be able to point out the fic in question.

EDIT @ Rhys: I wasn't aware that the Fidelius was a curse.

Not usually, but halfway through Unsung Hero I was convinced Dumbledore had a modified Fidelius on *Harry* with the secret being "Harry Potter is the Boy-Who-Lived" or something like that, and that anyone not knowing the secret would basically treat him as a non-entity. A Fidelius Curse, you might (or I might) be inclined to call it. It would have been a much cooler ending than that Lovecraftian travesty we were subjected to :/

As for the fic, I've never heard of it either. Sounded readable until we got to the travel back in time/Dumbledore crystal love vacuum thing.
