God, I remember that fic. I was sucked into it thinking 'well, I've never read a good Cho/Harry fic before, and this has a lot of reviews/sounds interesting... I'll give it a go.'

And then I read a bit more, and I liked it a lot. The writing was good, the concept was good, it seemed like a solid read. But then out of nowhere, H/HG. And not the good kind.

That was the day I learned that there are no good Cho/Harry fics.

 

I saw it as he was destined to die whenever he deviated, attempting to do anything different lead to his death. I wouldn't put it up to incompetence. Any deviation leads to death, and he never quite manages to perfectly mimic his first life.

This is borne out by his death whenever he tries to leave the country.
