In before I get yelled at for grave digging. Its the library and this is a review--a very belated review, but a review none the less.

First I want to say that I generally do not like Severitis. Why? Because Snape is a bastard and I like him that way. He reminds me of myself in many ways.

Second, the whole concept of Snape as "daddy" is a bit cliche. Perhaps not so much back in 2006, but it definitely is now. I had to suspend disbelief that this would automatically be drek, if only because it seemed interesting in the first review. I'm assuming that it did not follow proper format because that had yet to be invented.

Over all I can say that the technical aspects of the writing are quite good. I found very few if any grammar or spelling errors and those I did see were largely comma errors which are incredibly common, and while irritating to me would only make a hard core grammar nazi rage.

Also the fact that Snape didn't become insta-softie over Harry the second he learned he was his son was refreshing. I don't know if that cliche had been developed by 06 but it is certainly true now.

Furthermore the author chose the route of largely showing rather than telling. The biggest peeve I had was with the description of "Snape Manor" in that its decor was like that of the Hogwarts Dungeons. Rather than simply saying that, it would have been better had E.M. Snape described the rooms and chambers of this particular abode.

Finally there was plenty of action in this and quite a bit of drama. While I'm generally not one who goes into drama, this was drama that while it had angst was really more focused on power plays and therefore more interesting to my testosterone driven mind.

Over all since my main complaint is the telling about "Snape Manor" I can only deduct 1 point. Given the publish date and the assumed outline and planning phase of the fanfiction happened in 04 and obviously Half Baked Plot hadn't come out by that point I cannot deduct a further point for not using Spinner's End.

    Final rating is 4/5.

Decent, but probably only ever worth the recycling bin. I frown upon women who would do something so rash due to a little emotional discomfort, which is the event that this AU sprang from.
I'm generous in giving it a tentative 4/5.
(Couldn't really get past Ch 3...)

To IndoGhost: Lord is a way of addressing nobles. For example, my Lord So-and-so when the actual person is, in reality, of a rank ranging from Marquis to Baron. Sometimes a Duke can be addressed as my Lord Duke So-and-so. Duke is the highest noble title (coming after Prince, a royal title), Marquis being after that, then Earl/Count, Viscount, and Baron. My sources being Wiki and the dictionary/thesarus.

Jesus fucking Christ. So after the necro I went and looked to see who would have even posted a Severitus fic at DLP. And found out that it was me like seven years ago. Gah.

I think I remember reading this back in the day. My vague recollection (no, I'm not going to go re-read it) is that Snape was a bit too much of a bastard for the type of story it was trying to be.

Don't get me wrong, it's even worse when he turns into some sort of cuddly/sweet whatever. That's just... way, way OC. But unless I remember something wrong it was taken a bit too far in the other direction here for it to be believable.

But then it's been years since I read it. I'd probably rate it at a tentative 3/5, but I'm not going to rate the thread itself because it wouldn't be fair given the time since I read it.

Also, well done LT2000. Well done indeed.
