I agree. I feel strangely disappointed after the hype that was built up. Still glad that that's over. Question is how the story will progress from now on. We'd spent the last 6 months building up to this point, I'm hoping Gabriel has a plan in place on how the rest of the plot will go.

 

I definitely agree. As it was so long awaited, I was just trudging through it the hwole time. Kinda going meh. I did like the scene with Matsu slapping a little bit, but still meh. Still, I am very glad all that is over and done with now and we can move on to some other events.

Good chapter in general, and his author note's basically explains my feelings for it. Anyways, like always, lots of words but slow plot movement. With GB's irregular update schedule now, I think I may put down this fic for a couple months so I can get in a couple chapters all at once. Although, knowing me, when I see a new update post in this thread, I'll probably end up reading the newest chapter anyways.

Decent chapter, nothing really surprising about it or interesting. As GB said, it was basically a filler chapter to break up the tension, I can't really object to that in many stories but considering the current pacing for this story I don't think it was needed. Still the same humor involved plus a relatively amusing scene involving Karasuba, I find it sad that the two characters whose interactions with Shirou I like the most are hers and Miya, two characters who don't make it in often enough. Other than that I found myself skipping through parts of it that were basic dialogue and info dumps that didn't show anything new.

Its been almost thirty chapters now, the ground work has been laid, lets get to the third stage and get this story really rolling.

 

A filler chapter in a story where everything feels like filler is quite a shame.

 

I liked this chapter, compared to the complete disappointment that was the last one.

The disappointment in the last chapter for me stemmed from a lack of reaction from his Sekirei. Despite being introduced to magic, seeing Miya completely fucked over, and seeing how violent shit can become, they seemed to take it way too much in stride.

It seemed like the whole fic was building up to the Fraga fight as a major turning point, and I was expecting a bit more of a change in attitudes from the characters - apprehension, shock and whatnot. It seemed like only Matsu really sorta comprehended and reacted.

I hated that line. Given how the author has pretty much written Sekirei as being powerful, but vastly inexperience in combat, Miya included, I was hoping to see her a bit more shocked. Consider she has never really fought anyone who is at her level either. Yet, her first response was as arrogant as ever despite being taken out with one attack.

Oh well.


As for this chapter, despite the fact the author calls it a filler, it was enjoyable to see the interactions with Matsu and karasuba, as well as his information dumps on how mage fight. I never really enjoyed the scenes with Matsu until this chapter actually. I'm also very glad Karasuba didn't end up bonding with him, cause their interaction is way better as it is now. She will also make probably the only real viable threat to Shirou from the Sekirei side of things.

I wonder whether he'll start actually going through how magic works with his harem? Would make sense considering they'll be potentially fighting mages in the future.

Pretty excited to see where the fic goes from here anyhow.

 

You seem to forget that Miya actually has plenty of battle experience as the leading member of the first Disciplinary Squad. She had probably partaken in some fights even before she came to Earth. Besides, Miya didn't even use her powers when she attacked (presumable because she would have destroyed half of the neighbourhood). Had she used them, Fraga would have died far before she could have whipped out Fragarach.

 

Fragarach goes back in time it is impossible to attack first if she had attacked seriously miya would be dead. Still I also dislike how miya is reacting I wish shirou would explain NP and heroic spirits.

 

What Random_Shinobi meant is that if Miya had attacked seriously, the Fraga would have been dead before (s?)he could have even countered (preempted?) with Fragarach.

I'm not really happy with the latest chapter. When they are clocking in at 20k+ words, using the whole thing just as a breather between excitement just seems wasteful.

 

I did say "Consider she has never really fought anyone who is at her level either".

Sure she has wiped the floor with random humans and other Sekirei who got in her way, but she's never really fought anyone who's given her a challenge - the author does state she's never been injured before. And in the latest chapter, Shirou does muse about Miya having been so naturally strong that she never had to go through the scars and injuries that one usually gets through fighting experience.

She's probably used to taken down her enemies with her first attack. So yeah, her reaction to being defended against, and then hit back hard should've been a bit more than just complete arrogance that her second attack would definitely work.

I wonder if she really had a choice. As is apparent in this chapter, the Fraga did do her research. She surprise attacked, was ready to counter the Sekirei who tried to attack her as well as Shirou, get around his wards and all that.

She knew Miya was powerful enough that the only way to beat her was to use Fragrach. So she would have been ready. I'm assuming Miya's most powerful attack wouldn't necessarily be faster to pull off than activating Fragrach, which seems really quick.

From what I can gather, in Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, Fragrach actually manages to kill Saber. It is a Noble Phantasm, capable of defeating Servants. And if it took out Saber, what makes you think Miya would be able to defeat it?

I'm interested in how the author wants to put Sekirei power wise. He's certainly said that while they lack in ruthlessness and battle experience, someone like Tsukiumi has a lot more magical power than a strong Mage, but I don't think any of them gabriel blessing is putting them at heroic spirit level.

Miya and Karasuba are the two exceptions. I think they may be heroic spirit level. I'm really, really hoping for a Karasuba/Saber fight. XD

 

Fraga faced multiple enemies and this gives Miya the opportunity to strike from behind. Consider that Miya's attack is blindingly fast insta-kill, Fraga simply wouldn't have any time to react. She would be vaporised before she could utter the first syllable of her Noble Phantasm's name.

 

Fragarach has been used to counter Gaé Bolg.

 

I don't really know Nasuverse well enough to keep arguing about game mechanics. But my presumption is that while the Fragarach user doesn't have to use the Noble Phantasm before the enemy attack hits, they must still be alive to utilise it. If your heart is pierced, it will take a second or two before the body realises it's dead and presumably that's enough time to use Fragarach to counter the damage.

 

I could be wrong, but I believe that if you try to use Fragarach to counter Gae Bolg it results in both Lancer and the Fragarach user dead (since they are both unblockable).

 

And because they both violate the laws of causality [ie. localised time travel].
