This fic was just updated and completed today.

Turns out that the hair-pins had a useful purpose.
They're filled with poison, and they saved Harry's life
The fic was kind of short and sweet; it reminds me of The Marcello School in that aspect (even though that fic wasn't so short). Pretty cool to see a 30,000 word completed fic. It had several very good unique ideas, like the part where Harry helps out St. Nick. There was a nice touch of humour. And the ending was a scene I particularly liked.

One weakness was that sometimes it seemed to me that the story lacked emotion; I felt somewhat apathetic. Dunno why though. The author did write emotions. I guess she probably should've lengthened some emotional scenes and descriptions from 1-2 sentences to a paragraph for more of an impact.

The other was that the writing style could use improvement. It wasn't bad per say, but it wasn't good, and it dragged down a potentially great story.

This fic could be a 4.9/5. Yet when think I about this story, I really don't think that it deserves that. It's a decent story - it has nice ideas, humour, completion, etc. But it falls short of the dividing line between good stories and great stories despite lacking any major flaw.

So 4.4/5 (it would be 4.1, but I gave points for completion and a cool ending).

Christ. Sorry to post on a subject not strictly true to the story but the Marcello School! I haven't heard that mentioned in years. Whatever happened to the planned sequel of that? Was it ever started/finished?

And this story was good. Short, slightly clinical as said but finished, interesting and had some uniqueness. These days that alone is worth 3/5.

    So, 3.7/5 overall.

I don't think it was ever started, much less finished, but I could be wrong. That story brings back nice memories ...

Anyways, like the story, but it was a little blahh for me. Boring, actually. I read it through not because it was one of those amazing stories you just can't stop reading, but because of the lack of quality work out there today. But just for that fact that it was good enough to hold my attention, it wasn't slash, and it wasn't filled with Ginslut, it at least deserves a 3/5. It was original, though, so I give it a 3.5/5:GDie1

Gosh, I think The Marcello School was one of the first ffs I read in ff.net haha
I hated when the father killed his daughter(Harry's gf if I remember it correctly).

I've just finished reading this story and I find it... unsatisfying. It lacks something, I just don't know what. As Belerdorhan mentioned before, it has some unique ideas (especially about necromancy) but still...
The best part were the last three sentences... I'd like to read about Harry getting bored :) Since reading the Disc World books I've become fond of the Death as a character therefore:

Story is great. Plot, characters and the style of writing are very good and leave nothing to complain about. Nevertheless it could be a little longer. There is a lot of things which can be described better and developed to side-plots(?). Also I have this strange feeling like it was written in a hurry. Without much consideration. Just like author would want to say: "Hey! I have an idea!" and doesn't know how to write this in a form different than short thoughts. Like she wanted to just write it down. Because of that:

This story has a few good things to recommend it: necromancer!Harry, some interesting interaction with Death as an entity, and a unique (as far as I know) origin for Dementors.

I also enjoyed Harry's characterization for the most part, though I felt more could have been done with it. There really isn't much in the way of character growth in this story.

That said, this story really didn't stand out. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good either. It's start was reasonably strong, but it just didn't seem to follow through, and in the end left me feeling rather apathetic to the story as a whole.

    3/5 from me.

Because users are encouraged to give their opinions on Library stories regardless as to whether or not the thread is three days or three years inactive, as long as they post something constructive.

Little something i figured out after my first post, don't dick around with the, for lack of a better word, upperclassmen. They, much like the wolf, travel in packs and will chew your ass out as you slowly die.

p.s. I hope my grammar was right. Explain to me how to make a Sig so i can just put this there.

Lol, which upperclassman were you referring to? None of the recent posters (myself included) could be defined as such in any way shape or form.

About the sig, simply go to User CP and edit it there. Should be pretty self explanatory.

I define an upperclassmen as anyone who is higher ranked than me, be it in school, on a forum, or in a buisness. Thank you I will try to figure out the Sig.

Edit: I did not realize that the "necro poster" was not the same poster that responded to his necro accusation.

    Hope my grammar is correct.

Higher rank does not necessarily correspond to the number of posts or join date. Intelligence and a witty, sharp (sometimes sick) sense of humor is more often valued.

just finished reading this, short and sweet.
didn't really mind the hair pins, could think of much worse things, worse or just more extreme and 'in your face' sorts of stuff.

some of the ideas were view different, although I definately got a Mr. Black feel to things, like how the author left an opening to lots of further stuff, sequel wise, with the little silver scythe.

first time i've seen anyone connect the dementors and the veil together, although i read one story that had all the dementors sent through the veil as a way to get rid of them, for the vile abominations that they are. Them being the angels of death was a totally different thing though, something I think fit in real well.

definately liked the personality that was added to the zombies, sorta sarcastic with some and other just, meh don't leave me like this.

the whole thing with luna and ollivander being vampires.....meh, at least they idn't freakin sparkle.

Well written, but I really dislike the idea of death being reversible. Killing off characters (often the ones nobody expects) is what makes fights interesting. You litteraly know what anybody can get killed at any time.

That adds excitement. If Harry can go "Meh, I guess I'll revive him/her" then it sorta loses it's power.
That said, the bits of the story I've read are fun and well-written.
Though I'm kinda sullking that this guy gets away with a story entirely devoted to necromancy. :p

    "Are you discriminating against zombies?"

    Lol

The last chapter felt really weak, though. The fight lacked excitement and some stuff didn't make sense.
A darker, stronger version of stupefy?
The spell already renders you completely immobile. This one didn't even do that.
Hermione beating Bellatrix, help or no help, also felt a bit too far of a reach.

The wrap-up of the battle between Harry and Voldemort was decent... But as for the rest, I'm kind of disappointed.
