Okay, I really liked this. There were of course things that got skipped over and some that were just minimized, but it was good.

It is only a oneshot so there isn't too much pretense on any one thing, but it is definetly something I will read later.

Things it contains: Manipulative Dumbledore, Nice Umbridge, Madame Bones, mentions of Evil Snape, sort of Laid Back Harry, Hannah/Susan sharing (*wink), and Hermione's need to follow up with authrity... I'm sorry if this spoils some people's need to go to it, but there is more.

 

Auto-fail. Umbridge's entire character is being a mean retarded fat bitch. Anything else is not HP.

EDIT: I read half the first chapter and would like to take this time to warn everyone to stay away if your standards are as high as mine.

 

Eh. It's an original premise, and slightly amusing. Just because one person is different from the books, Vengashii, you peasant, is no reason to discount it. Average to decent in my book.

 

I got down to where Harry accepts a drink from Umbitch (veritaserum) then Ameila comes in and explains how Dolores is her top secret agent in Hogwarts and I promptly x'd the window.

 

It's an interesting idea but it's ridiculous how quickly Harry jumps to oh hai umbridge let's be friends. "I had to use a blood quill on you to look tough" "Well then, that's ok!".

He's also a giant vagina in most interactions with others. And SuperUnspeakables is made of gay (3 unspeakables took down Voldemort? stfu).

But at least it's not another post-ootp rehash.

 

It's amazing that a story can have such an original idea and still be stuffed with cliches. 2/5

His other story (Ruthless Revenge) is much better, it's centered more around character and plot instead of a novel premise.

 

Good!Umbridge is auto-fail, as has been pointed out. The romance, if it can be called that, was absolutely terrible.

I also didn't find it in the least bit funny.

Man, you lot half standards that are certainly hard to match. If you guys react like this, then I don't understand the HPSS love of things.

Yeah, Harry is a bit of a pussy and led by his lower head more than anything, but it is just different and I like the oneshot. NiceUmbitch is a stretch-I totally agree. But aren't fanfics just the twisting of one or two things to skew the story in another direction? And yeah, half the cliche things are annoying, but its isn't meant to be a serious story, just someone's idea in a certain skew.

 

HPSS love? Us? What crack are you on?

I was willing to tolerate good!umbridge on the hope that their might be something original and redeeming in this mass of text. Rather than repeat everything above me, I'll just say 1/5.

 

While the story was pretty awful as a whole, the one thing I did like was that Hermione was the one bribed by Dumbledore as opposed to the entire Weasley family (save perhaps Bill and Charlie).

That said, 1/5.

 

Good!Umbridge - interesting concept, but poorly executed. I think a Good!Umbridge story would work better if she didn't break her cover.

I think Recycle Bin. I loved the idea behind the story, and the writing itself didn't have any obvious errors (not that I was looking). Sadly, the execution rather sucked. The romance was horrible, the 'Harry sits back and blinks dumbly as someone else kills Voldemort' thing has always annoyed me, and the fact that Hermione, the most level-headed character in the book- until the character swap with Ron in Sixth year- besides Luna, was saddled with 'traitor' rather than Ron 'I hate you because you're better than me' Weasley pissed me off.

So, 2.5 to 3 out of 5. Not so bad that I wouldn't read it, but it read like something that Rorschach's Blot would have put together in ten minutes. He bashes something of that caliber- though far more amusing- daily.

 

The good!Umbridge idea is actually pretty good. It was the way the whole story went that took most of the fun from the story. The story is not great, but certainly not obnoxious.

Fail. The plot is stupid, and the character interaction is completely unrealistic.

 

Agreed in the second point, but a Good!Umbridge could be interesting, but you would have to do it right, for example she would still be a proud pureblood and so on. As long as there is no Umbridge!Dumbledore or Umbridge!Anyone butt sex them I might read it.

 

It reminds me of that author...I can't remember their name but they have about six or seven different stories which basically follows the same damn plot, over and over again, where Madame Bones is suddenly the incarnate of justice and good and saves Harry from Dumbledore's wicked ways.

I hated those stories. I don't much like this one either.
