I mean sure the Ginny/Harry thing has been seen since book 1 well 2 really. Still JKR should of done a more believable break-up between Harry&Ginny :? . I think JKR dropped the ball on HBP, I mean it was a bit good but still, not enough action&angst in it for me.

Actually OOTP wasn't that bad. The only part that sucked was sirius dieing, and that created the biggest motivation for harry to go dark.

 

Harry was a little bitch in OOTP, but at leasthe had the sack to try an unforgiveable.

In HBP he was what can only be described as a whiney scared infantile sissy baby. Seriously, he actually feels REGRET for trying Sectumsempra on Malfoy and hurting him. Shit, he should still be feeling regret... But only because he didn't kill Malfoy.

 

This is also after malfoy tried crucioing him.

 

After GoF I expected him to show some balls and take an active part in training. Instead he gets suckered into teaching some idiots simple spells, gets his ass kicked by TWO dementors when 2 years prior he took on a hundred+ (This is still retarded as hell to me, the effects of one dementor sound nuts, so many in one spot in PoA should of drove everyone around insane)

He gets tortured like a lil wimp and does nothing/says nothing about it. Finally at the very end you see him sack up and fight in the DoM, but most of that consisted of running through rooms and getting lucky with the enviroment in there for cover/etc. He cruico's Bella, which was great, but he should of flat killed the bitch.

He spent the entire book pretty much clueless, and the entire book is build up to a prophecy 99% of anyone smarter then the family dog already guess at. Theres more filler in the book then any book save for HBP to date in the series,etc

I could go on but thats basically the gist of it

 

I agree with all of that 100%. Those are pretty much my issues with the book as well, only I'll add: He throws a fit with his friends who know nothing anyway, but then he lets Molly silence Sirius about something CLEARLY important early on in the book. That drove me crazy, I wanted to know what the hell was wrong with him that he did that. Same with the end with Dumbles, hes ultra pissed before he knows the truth, throwing a right fit, and then when he learns what the headmaster hid from him for 5 effing years (which I agree, he had to have realised anyway), he just loses the will to rage. What??? You just got your godfather killed because of such a pointless and undefendable action by the headmaster, and you stop raging? Man that pisses me off as a reader, it insults my intelligence. If I had known the main character was going to remain so perfectly stupid, I would have avoided the series all together.

 

Same, its fanfiction, most of it written by people that come here, that I bother with the world for. She did create... well.. NAME anyway, enough characters to have fun with. I won't say create, since she doesn't believe in decent backstory, not proper plot forwarding.

If anything, Sirius' death should of vulcanized his will to fight, instead of being a good lil cheating bitch the whole year, using a book from who knows where. He did nothing pretty much all of HBP. After getting the pain curse from Voldemort himself and knowing what he was up against, things should of changed. She just cannot figure out what to do with him, and now no matter what, year 7 is going to blow, because theres no way in hell he can do all he needs to do in that time frame.

He may very well of after year 3, if they didn't let Peter get away.

No one could of Accio'ed the godamned rat, or impeded him so he couldn't move, etc? Just another bad mark that didn't sit well with me.

 

I think that that is the problem with creating a world where you can do pretty much anything except block a killing curse (even then it happens consistently.) It is near impossible to continue the plot.

 

I think it would be more manageable if there weren't things like 'luck potions', 'Room of Requirement' and so on.

 

I don't understand why people don't drink luck potions before ANY big event. And why did HARRY take NONE with himself?!?! He was going to a place that had traps set by VOLDEMORT and he goes traipsing in. At this point in their academic career EVERYBODY seems to have accomplished more than him. Snape was the HBP so we know the spells and potions he invented, the Marauders were Animagi, Dumbledore was ridiculous according to Tofty, Lily was considered "very gifted" according to Slughorn, and Voldemort was doing UNBELIEVABLE things, and none of them had the motivation of knowing that someone was out to kill them. If there was a girl who KNEW that rapists everywhere would try to rape, and she ignored this knowledge (essentially what Harry has done, and does) I would say said girl is fucking stupid. He DRAWS trouble by simply existing. And what does Harry do NOTHING! the dude is simply stupid.

 

Aye the only thing he's good at is Quidditch.

 

and even that is suspect, as most of his victories are against subpar teammates, when he's on a far superior broom.

comparision wise: I'm sure if you take some idiot "racecar" driver like Jeff Gordon and give him a stock ford escort, and give me a Ferrari, I'd beat his ass hardcore too.

 

Well Harry is still better than Neville, but perhaps in the end it's Neville who safes the world because he was trained while Dumbledore distracted Harry with useless Occlumency training and 'memory watching'.
