I'm willing to bet that DUmbledore turned into a phoenix or something. There is a quote on page 645 in the American addition I'll type out the whole passage.

There. That is my evidence for Dumbledore coming back as a phoenix with JK doing somehting stupid like "only the purest souls can become phoenixes."

 

Yupp Dumbledore could be a Phoenix Animagus, perhaps this is why he didn't care when the Deatheaters came. (And begging Snape to let him live is pathetic even for Dumbledore)

If Dumbledore turns out not to really be dead I will be forced to burn HBP and whatever the new book is.

 

I think making Fawkes an Animagus is something that even JKR wouldn't think of.
