Anyway, yeah harry can be miserable at times, what with the whole 'going to die, lunatic after me, manipulated/lied to by dumbledore' thing going on, so he has a right to be. Or maybe JK realised that she was writing about a bloody TEENAGER! Whether you admit it or not all teenagers get cranky and grumpy over everything and nothing, and yes, a lot of them shout at their friends and sometimes have temper tantrums, it's completely normal for any teenager to act the way harry did, never mind one with so much stress.

If he is Emo, he has a bit of a reason to be.

 

He is shy, because his whole life his family said he is a worthless freak, but when it counts, Harry will stand up for himself. Did you read the 5th book? Whole Magical UK hated him, and he still stuck up for what he believed in.

How does he not have a backbone? He goes into the Chamber of Secrets knowing theres a snake that can kill him by looking at him, armed only with Second year spells.

In Canon, No, Harry Potter isn't an "emo". He doesn't wallow in self pity, he doesn't cry about the unfairness of the world, he sure as hell doesn't slit his wrists....(I'm appling 'emo' to the stereotypical veiw...don't like it, then sue me)
The only time I remember Harry crying was after the Third Task, and lets be honest, who can blame him? He had just been tortured, seen a friend die, had a madman try to kill him and have the Minister of Magic dismiss everything he had been through.

In Fandom....Hell yes! Most of the stories out there are Sooky!Harry and Whiny!Harry and TheWorldIsSoUnfairSoI'mGoingToKillMyselfOrMutiliateMyself!Harry.

In cannon he may be weak sometimes but come on he is still a kid and he has like charles manson coming after him so he is allowed to sometimes break down. As long as he stands tall in front of voldemort thats all that matters.


In fannon some very misguided authors love to write a harry that is so dependent on others and is just wallowing in self pity its a miracle he can go to bathroom by himself.

So it all depends on what you read and by whom.
