I was browsing Fanfiction.net the other day. And I can honestly say ive read every single story over 50,000 words and more. Now as I was looking, I was like wdf! Theyres over 38,000 stories on this site! And im out of stuff to read:mad:

Now you may say im a little to addicted. But I love Harry Potter. But most of all I love the way people can write it and twist it to theyre own way.

now on to why i posted this..

Is it just me, or is theyre a lack of writers in hp now a days? Especialy good writers?ive read all the stories over 200k words also..Now those are certainly great..but theyre all from 1-3 years ago..It just doesnt seem like anyones coming out with long ass stories that are awesome!Ever heard of summer of change?that was finished a long time ago..and im still waiting for the sequel lol...:p

Now ive got another bone to pick with you writers..Now no offense.I know writing is hard and everything..but why is it that almost every Harry Potter Independent story always takes place during the summer? Everyone keeps posting these long ass details for like everyday of the summer .Im a big fan of when Harry goes to school and kicks ass from theyre..Cuz personaly.I LOVE HOGWARTS!...:)

    Anyone wanna comment?no flames please..be nice!:p

You know what? You type like a half-dead wrinkled cunt slapping away at a keyboard, and it's getting a bit old. I'll re-post the Global-Fucking-Announcement, in the hopes that you can, in fact, read.

    Don't make me baptise you.

Seriously, can you read the name of the site? Dark doesn't mean "Oh don't swear!"

    1. They're is a combination of the words "They" and "are". Since "They are you go Sir" makes no sense, it's obvious you got the wrong one. "There" is the appropriate one to use in this situation.

Congratulations, you pass 5th grade English!

    2. "Sir" isn't capitalised unless you're following the title up with a name. "Sir Xiph0" is correct, "Sir" isn't, it's undercase.

Type right, or don't bother at all. Independent Harry stories start in summer, because it's logical. At school he has work, and cannot get out. Summer he has more freedom and it's a time he can change his self.

Back to the topic at hand (It's fun to bash the newbs and teach them proper behavior, but I'll let the old hands take care of it.), I think that perhaps you do not realize the commitment those 200K+ epics represent. The first three books were all under 100K words long. Think about that please. Most mass market novels are around 75,000-100,000 words. It is a nice round number for these things.

So those authors who can dedicate the time and energy to write you double or triple length stories for no pay, are worthy of praise even if it isn't your favorite pairing/genre/plot devices. Those first three HP books, again all in that 75-100 length, were three YEARS work for Rowling.

Even a 50k story is a great accomplishment that I salute. As HP grew older, so did the fans. Most of these authors are at least high school age and many in college or beyond. Having a job and an obsession cuts into your time.

Since I started writing seven months ago I've written around a quarter of a million words of Harry Potter fanfiction and let me tell you it is a serious time commitment to update even once a week. Authors may have lives in the real world that prevent them from writing your 100-200k epics. Appreciate what is available, give your authors feedback, and please don't complain.

Seeing as how you haven't written a fanfic (maybe you have but I haven't seen one) you have no idea just hiw many words 10 000 is. I am just starting mine and am about 10 000 words in and it seems to have taken forever. On another not. JESUS CHRIST how can you possibly have read every story over 50 000 words! There's thousands not to mention all the slash and H/G you'd have to read. Do you read like 23 hours a day!
