I admit I didn't pay much attention to this in DH when I read it back in August (and I read it fast... lest my hands become filthy).

But now, while looking at Lexicon about some Voldemort facts, I stumbled upon this, and my eyes popped out of their sockets.

Did JKR really made Regulus a good guy because he supposedly cared about a filthy nasty piece of garbage... that is, a House-Elf?!

Com'on, I can somehow understand that JKR, in some of her twisted form of logic, made Snape a good guy because he loved Lily. Perverted jerks who never god a lay during 30 years, and because of their frustration rape people, these exists. I can somehow believe it.

But seriously, rebelling against Voldemort because of some piece of House-Elf shit was beaten... just as 99% of the House-elf population? If I were Harry I'd be kicking Dobby every time he looks at me as if I was a hero!

It's just not a valid reason, especially because everyone who owns a House-Elf will be tempted to abuse them.

Well, I kinda burned the whole "R.A.B." thing out of my brain the moment I heard it.

Within two days of HBP coming out, rabid fourteen-year old fangirls had predicted who the initials belonged to.

I was hoping for something unexpected, maybe some sort of clue... but no, Rowling once again shows her credentials.

And couldn't she say Regulus left because he didn't like murdering innocent people? Yeah, that doesn't make sense.

Don't call me a rabid fangirl, bitch.

"Mr. R, would you join my 'Society for Protection of Elfish Welfare'. "
"Only if you join mine first, Miss Granger."

My apologies. Probably my fault anyway - it's not like I should have been looking for complexity in Harry Potter.:wall:

To be honest, I was expecting something something a bit less simple.

    here.
JKR is simply not made to write complex story. It would be better off if she stuck to simple and funny things like she did in the first book, but alas... she overstepped her boundaries. She began twisting and throwing unnecessary craps into her story that it was simply... overwritten?

Everything up to the fifth book is fine. But HBP and DH fail. I think she just didn't plan too much out and tried to fit morals and political correctness in the HP series, which really screwed it up. You know, to be remembered as one of the great writers of the twenty-first century.

You're an intellectual ape and a blight on this site's reputation for intelligence.

Just because something was predicted doesn't make it bad in the slightest, delivery is crucial - something JKR nailed with DH.

Edit: And if you were really asking, yes, she did write that.

This is how I envisioned the R.A.B. locket thing playing out. Needless to say, I was most disappointed when JKR missed the obvious cross-over potential:

    Hermoine: "R.A.B.... R.A.B...."

Harry: Sirius's brother? Rudolphus A. Black?

Hermoine: No. it's too obvious. Even a fangirl could guess that.

    [ She thinks for a moment. ]

    Hermoine: I've got it!

    Harry: You do?

Hermoine: Rearrange R. A. B. and you get "bar". The locket is made of gold, right? So where would we find gold bars?

    Harry: Gringotts?

Hermoine: Yes! Now what else comes in bars and starts with 'S', the initial on the locket?

    Harry: Sluts.

    [ Hermoine's glare is murderous. ]

    Harry: Okay, soap.

Hermoine: Precisely. Soap is slippery and is used to get clean. And remember--we couldn't open the locket, it was broken. Break. Break in.... Who do we know who broke into Gringotts and made a clean getaway?

Harry: Well, us in a few chapters.

[ Hermoine groans in frustration. ]

Harry: Wait, didn't Quirrill break into Gringotts?

Hermoine: Yes, it's soooo obvious. And it ties in with an obscure plot point in Book 1, which is why it must be right. The locket is obviously at Quirrill's ancestral home. Come, Robin--Harry! Harry, I mean. We've got to get to the Bat Cave, er, Library. And I must alert Commissioner Bones!

Harry: Hold on, wasn't Quirrill one of the bad guys? He did have Voldemort invading his mind and sticking out of his gob after all.... If Quirrill stole the locket, wouldn't Voldemort have known?

Hermoine: Don't bother me with plot holes. We've no time to spare. Those nasty nefarious nabobs need to be nabbed!

[ Cue Batman Theme Song as the dynamic duo exit stage right ]
