This may seem a bit odd, but is there any direct canon confirmation that McG is a member of the OotP? I can't seem to locate any. In the lexicon they state that she is a member and refer to the Battle of Hogwarts where she arrranges the evacuation of the younger students as proof but that would be her job as a teacher and former Deputy Headmistress so does not prove concretely that she is a member. (Can you say run on sentence? Sure you can.)

The reasoning behind this is that I finally got a bunny that would lead to a believable Harry/Minerva pairing but it also requires that she not be a member of the Order. So I am seeking canon proof. She needs to be ignorant of the prophecy and the reasons why Albus is manipulating Harry's life to make her actions believable.

Yes. In OotP, when Harry gets to Grimmauld Place, he mentions her as one of those entering and leaving the Headquarters regularly -- even mentioning the fact she looked very odd in Muggle clothes.

 

She's probably sympathetic, but not a full member.

She wasn't on Moody's Order photo, even if at the time she was still the deputy headmistress. Also, in PS, she obviously had no clue about Dumbledore's and Snape's game with Quirrel. Her input outside the classroom wasn't very notable in other books as well.

IMO Dumbledore probably keeps her at arms length from the Order so that Hogwarts can have a sympathetic but unaffiliated leader in case his illegal organization is exposed and outlawed.

The only clue in my mind that points to her being a member is her occasional visit to Grimmauld Place in OOTP, but in your fic, you can easily explain that by some headmistress-related business.

Post OofP AU. Over the summer, DD does the isolate Harry thing again and it is McG, overhearing him talking about it, who decides that enough is enough. Through some neat transfiguration she manuevers Harry out of Surrey and tells him he can spend the summer with her. Later she realizes that he needs some company from people his own age but can't trust any of his friends to keep it hidden from DD. She uses polyjuice and a lock of her own hair from her time at Hogwarts and becomes a teenager again. She claims to be the grandchild of Prof. McG and befriends Harry. She even teaches him to become an Animagus (An owl. Remember the old movie titled: The Owl and The Pussycat?) Things grow from there.

I already pity Harry when he find's out that teenager girl who he was fancying is not so teenager anymore. Poor kid, he would get mental trauma for life.

 

I fucking lol'd. Fuck that, Minerva is probably hot. In canon she has raven black hair and not grey like the movies. I'd say that since magical folk age slower, she wouldn't be as old as most imagine her. H/Minerva for the win.

 

I can spot a problem already, the hair that McGonagall would need has to be fresh that was why Moody was kept alive. You would need to explain this if you go the polyjuice route.

 

QFT. You could probably get away with describing her as looking like she's in her late 40s early fifties. Michelle Pfeiffer is 50 and she's pretty fuckin' hot - I've always imagined McGonagall as a dark-hair Pfeiffer. Dunno where that came from....

On the other hand, I doubt I'd read it. Maybe if it was written by a phenomenally good author I might, but I don't think that it would be appealing enough otherwise. The only "good" Harry/McGonagall fics I've come across were fairly mediocre in comparison to most of the stuff in DLP's Library.

 

Not only that, but it isn't permanent...Unless your fic is parody, I'll avoid it. Though when Harry find's out would be one moment I wouldn't miss. That will be his WTF moment I suppose.

 

De-ageing McGonagall is the cowardly route. Besides, I'd need to be madly in love with someone to go through school again for, not just sympathetic to their loneliness.

Off the top of my head - make it post-Hogwarts, but the war's still going on. Harry with a tad more confidence is getting training on the side from McGonagall. Their relationship becomes a more casual than teacher/student, Harry starts flirting with her to see if he can break her poise, McGonagall playfully responds faux-disapproving, things develop from there.

 

"Minitiaurized Hinerva" is the name given to this pairing, which I believe occured in the fic "Black Owl". I remember seeing this ship named so at some other site, wishing that I had thought of it, even though the name itself has vaguely pedophilic (sic) overtones/connotations. And whoever wrote the ending was lame was quite right. It was like the Simpsons episode where Homer makes an impassioned speech to save his character Poochy on the "Itchy and Scratchy Show" and has it overdubbed by the arrival of a flying saucer and the words "I have to go now.", with another overdub announcing that he was killed 3 weeks later.

Now if only Minniequill could write a H/Minerva story that doesn't either end in utter tragedy or feature a Minerva that didn't play the Hogwarts Bicycle to Dumbledore, Riddle, and her own family... (or both).

I remember that story where Minerva was de-aged, then Harry's memories were wiped at the end. Call me a pussy, but I tend to prefer happy endings. I'm reading HP for entertainment, not to duplicate the experience of watching, well, pretty much every French movie I've ever seen. Fucking depressing, those are. Is anyone in that country happy other than Audrey Tautou?

If you knew of the existence of Polyjuice Potion, wouldn't you be inclined to save back some hair and revisit your glory days (at least health-wise) at a later date? I could even see married couples saving hair from their honeymoon to use on anniversaries or something.

Even we muggles tend to save small locks in picture frames with a person's photo, or in scrapbooks, or when a significant amount, like an entire ponytail, gets cut off. It's not so unbelievable that someone would have some old hair on hand. Especially considering how many spells you can probably use it in.

 

Fun hobby: Collecting hair from random people and polyjuicing yourself into a stranger every morning.

 

Funner hobby: Collecting hair from your friends and sleeping with their girlfriends via polyjuice.

 

Funnest hobby: Buying the hair of celebrities online and making the most convincing fake sex tapes ever.

 

Would you simply release said sex tapes, or blackmail them first?

 

You would think polyjuice would be illegal. All the stuff you guys said plus what Barty Jr did. I mean you take the place of the minister of magic and do all types of bad things.
