Literally all the franchises these days have so many spin offs. It's amazing how much they are wasting the potential of HP. The fantastic beasts thing absolutely sucked. And rebooting the books is boring. Its shocking how such a huge franchise like HP is lacking in ideas. HP fanfiction have come up with so many wonderful original ideas you can easily make a show or movie out of. Surely Warner bros can afford hundreds of talented writers to come up with new shows, movies? I just feel they wasting the potential of huge franchise like HP.

 

The problem is that JKR wants creative control.

So they can't bring in hundreds of writers with their own ideas, because they have to stick to hers.

 

Which imo is a very good thing, even if she has an inconsistent track record with screenplays. There is no lack of examples of book adaptations going hilariously off the rails for the worse in recent years when authors don't have some degree of creative control. Hell, they would have set the films in America is JKR hadn't thrown up a stink. I have very little confidence that the HBO show is going to be better than the movies were, but at least it won't be a Wheel of Time style disaster if Rowling is breathing down the directors' necks.
