That word...It does not mean what you think it does. Do you mean psychological? Even if the word may be technically correct (the study may pertain to the physical/chemical reactions of the human body) I'd imagine a psychological study would be more useful in determining how 'evil' someone is.

Yeah, you definitely mean psychological. :p

I'd never seen this before and it was an excellent read, up there with an anal Taure post, so thanks for the link.

In it the author mentions a couple of times what sounds like a voldemort POV or monologue on his attack on godric's hollow from book seven, I think. I can't remember this at all and I'm travelling so I don't have access to it. Can anyone tell me where this is or what it is? I'm really curious.

Voldemort has this flashback right after the incident in Bathilda Bagshot's house. Godric's Hollow triggered him.

I'm now imagining Voldemort on Twitter.

I don't know if this is a good thing.

"My message is let's kill all jews."

But that aside, this is discussing whether patriotic Arians could live comfortably under Hitler. Sans the war, the answer is 'probably yes', but the point is that the war is part of the deal because that's the kind of guy Hitler was, so the answer is 'no'.

It's no different in Canon -- Voldemort being himself caused the resistance that was the exact reason he could never keep control of Britain, so placing any faith in him is a folly that backfired spectacularly. I like pureblood-dominated Britain as much as the next guy, but that's the Canon-truth. The only way this idea could ever have worked would have been to let Voldemort take the Ministry, and then remove him and install someone sane (just like the time to remove Hitler was somewhere way before '39, if the goal supposedly was to restore 'German greatness') -- but that obviously couldn't work, because Voldemort was immortal.

The amount of lonely, self-absorbed, dysfunctional netgirl pouring off each of your posts is quite possibly strong enough to be measured as a radioactive phenomena.

You're not evil, you're just a sad girl who saw a pretty, troubled young boy who grew up to be an evil dictator wannabe in a fantasy world and romanticized him because you see his dysfunction as similar to your own in some fashion or another.

Lets be honest here. All of us have some Evil inside. No person is without their own darkness, what defines us as truly being evil or not is how much influence we let that have on us. Whether we let ourselves abandon guilt and ignore morals.

By your own words, you admit that you know he was evil and needed to be taken care of. By your own words, you admit that he needed to be killed for the safety and prosperity of others. That means that you know, when you're being honest, the difference between right and wrong, and that you acknowledge where Evil must be combated. Evil doesn't admit where it is faulty and needs to be fought. Evil does not accept the concept of righteous justice. Evil is self serving, arrogant, and destructive.

You're not evil, you're just romanticizing evil for some flawed, likely intensely personal, reason.

    What you are is pitiable.

Seek help, you obviously need it.

Tom Riddle was a twisted child with lots of problems. I wouldn't say he was Evil until he created his first Horcrux. Even then, as vile as an act as that was, it's not Evil Beyond Redemption. Plenty have committed cold blooded murder and lived to regret it for it's wrongness as an act, later.

Voldemort? Voldemort was pure evil, for a variety of reasons already listed and explained in this thread rather well. The fact that we can understand the motivations and fears behind his evil doesn't make him any less evil, or any less in need of being put down. It's just an attempt by the author to demonstrate that even the most horrible of us are still human.

He was a genocidal maniac hellbent on murder, torture and whatnot. He WAS fucking evil. This question is goddamn idiotic.
