I just attempted to update iTunes after going admittedly far too long without doing so, and it gets about halfway through the installation before telling me there's an error with my windows installer and cancelling. I've tried a handful of the quick troubleshooter things, but nothing seems to work... Save me, Ponyville?

Ahh, and if this is a really simple fix, I'm sorry for asking a dumb question. I'm much more familiar with the hardware side of PCs than the software, so I could be overlooking something

Do you have the right windows service pack, .net framework, etc?

Just download the most recent release from iTunes, it will be the most recent version, afaik. Better than trying to update.

That is the error message that displays, and that's attempting to install the most recent version available, as per Zombie's advice. Anarchy, everything else runs fine, so I assume I'm running at the newest version of everything, but I haven't actually updated my .Net framework in a while... I have since I last updated iTunes, but it's been a while. For what it might be worth, I'm running the 64 bit Home version of Windows 7

EDIT: Update. Checked my .Net framework, I have the latest version of it too. Everything appears to be up to date, is there a way that I can re-install my Windows Installer and do it that way?

Try a earlier version? I still use iTunes 7.

If you installed windows from a disk, run the repair feature. Maybe something has gotten corrupted in your windows install. Deleted something you shouldn't have, etc.

Do you have Admin user permissions? Are you running the installer as administrator? Don't know what else to tell you, really.

or this 10 Alts to Itunes

You'd have a higher chance of success if you asked this question on the Apple iTunes forum or support site. I assume one exists somewhere.
