Don't forget that Harry probably inherited the Blacks fortune when Sirius died, so he is most likely filthy rich, and he will only gain more money by working as an auror.

 

I agree that JKR has an apparent obssesion with the Weasly's/close family. But I also agree that family is not everything and you have to make a stand yourself as well. The point is in the HP series there are points that JKR could have used to make the series much, MUCH better; such as the end of Book 5. Due to the in-evolution of characters and plot, we in turn hate the characters that we feel brought that caticlysm about. I.E. Gin-slut, Moolywobbles and other things in general.

On another note in relation to Fannon v. Cannon from earlier: JKR Created and brought the idea of Harry Potter and his world to the masses. Through Fanfiction and other such things the masses have Harry and his world a fictional 'reality' which they manipulate to their liking through fanfiction. In the legal world JKR owns Harry Potter and all related affiliates, but in reality it is more like a joint ownership between fans and JKR. I feel this leans towards the fans.
