@Taure: We already knew that magical creatures could use wands, as the hybrids, such as Hagrid and Fleur clearly have no problems.

well this form is quite different from any of the others i have seen...i find that the intellect is quite a bit higher as is the age and depth of theories

 

I would think transfiguring an animal (or anything else for that matter) into a human would be impossible, because while the form of a human could be given, the transfiguration wouldn't be able to produce a soul and consciousness--basically the result of the transfiguration would be something like a victim of a Dementor Kiss.

 

It's still a human though.

A human with the mental capacity of whatever animal it was originally, but still a human. (Or maybe not? Maybe, now it has a human brain, it has the capacity to learn equal to that of a human.)

 

That touches upon the mind-brain problem. While a discussion of it is outside the scope of this thread, for that to be true, physicalism would have to be true. But we know physicalism isn't true in the HP-verse because we know souls exist.

 

Bump, but with a good reason. The door is open again! I haven't taken the test yet, but since it was opened on the 21st, I bet it's book 7 related.
