Alright, this is a thought I just had:

Why is it the wand that always chooses the wizard? This is my idea:

Once a long time ago thousands of wands were made, and over the years the wizards bought them...

ok lame, this is my main thought:

I think that only a limited number of wands were made, each one for one wizard, and after all the wands are used there will be no more wizards, I think each wand was meant for one person, throughout the thousands of years, and the last wand will represent the last wizard.

in a nutshell: The wands represent the number of wizards that will ever exist.

What do you think of my idea?

Personally I think its a stupid idea. Isn't Ollivanders described as Making wands since 382bc or something?

Im tempted to rant, but I have no time to do so, so just....no.

Doesn't seem to fit to well. If that were true then Harry's wand wouldn't have been made by the current Ollivander (who is not immortal, no matter what you say) and that goes contrary to canon. Therefore, no.

However, this could be used as the basis for another ficlet.

After Ollivanders disappearance, everyone steadily is reduced to being muggles as the war progresses over a decade or three, other countries blockade england so theres no wands getting in...

There are other wand manufactures. One is said in GoF during the 'Wand Weighing' but i'm too lazy to check.

I thought Ollivander was talking about a Bulgarian wand maker?

And anyway, I think that someone asks (in HBP) where everyone will get wands once Ollivander is gone, and someone replies "They'll have to get them elsewhere. It's just that Ollivanders was the best"

As for the idea, that would require extremely sophisticated methods of interpreting the future. And, it seems that Divination can't quite see that far.
