You know I was just thinking a bit about how retarded JK rowling is and I just had a thought about Slytherin. Why on earth did she put Slytherin in the Dungeons? Snakes hate the cold and prefer very warm climates. Did she just not research it or does it really not matter at all?The whole snake thing and then the dungeons just didn't make sense to me. Hufflepuff would of made more sense in the dungeons because they at least burrow and stuff.

(Speaking in the symbolic sense with all the animals that the house portray and stuff.)

edit:: Thanks to the Brain Dead obvious person underneath this post, I shall clarify what I mean by Slytherin and hufflepuff. I am talking about the houses as just that, houses. I am not talking about the people within it.

Slytherins and Hufflepuffs are not animals.

Hence the last line about it being symbolic fool.

Or...she was writing a purely children's book when she started, and the 'evil' house lived in cold and dreary dungeons, fitting the stereotype?

Alot of fantasy books and games and stuff have had it where the ultimate (Evil) dwelled in a tower. Not the dungeon, dungeons are just what the name implies. Certainly not a place snakes would be found.

Why should it matter?, The animals are symbolic, like you said, however snakes don't live there, humans do. There is also a matter of magic, heating charms blah blah blah, i would think they have means to provide warmth.

Once again fool I am not talking about the humans that live there. I am talking about the houses themselves and what they represent animal wise and why it doesn't make sense for a snake house to be in the dungeons. Please stop posting in this thread.

You sir, are an idiot. Childrens book, Snakes = Evil, Dungeons = Evil, Slytherins = Evil, J.K = Evil. Your talking about the properties of the animal not the symbolic sense behind it.

Go tell that to the thousands of other childrens books that has evil in it and see how it matches up with JK. I am talking about the houses and therefore by default the animals that the houses represent

    Wow.... Just wow...

This has to be one of the most idiotic things to argue about. Ever.

Look, JK didn't really put a lot of thought into some things about her books. Chalk it up to that.
...Not that matching the house dormitories into areas where that animal would have lived makes any sense whatsoever....

Really, the depth of her thought process was pretty clear when she labeled a quarter of her characters, hufflepuffs.

In that thing you call a closet. Better watch out,
Gryffindors are supposed to take the moral high ground, hence they are at the top. Slytherins are immoral, hence the dungeon. Oh, by the way, it is slightly fucking creepier to children.

I remember witnessing an argument in high school, where one guy was arguing that the sound quality of the Compact Disc was vastly superior to tapes. The other guy kept trying to tell the dense arguer that he didn't dispute that, he had just been saying that it wasn't a big enough difference for his jobless ass to shell out $300 for a five-disc changer and even more money to replace his entire tape collection, when his cassettes worked just fine.

The funny thing is, they weren't geeks, the two guys were preps... but that's beside the point. :p

A third guy walked up and said, "This is a nerd fight, and I can't listen to it anymore."

    I'm feelin' that right now.

Keep your thoughts to yourself. Indeed a stupid topic. Ravenclaw's symbol is a bird, you want them to live in the sky? Or maybe a nest? ...

    YEAH!

And why the fuck didn't she have the Hufflepuffs being forced to burrow under the grounds of Hogwarts to make their beds, cuz thats what badgers do. J.K, you fucktard.

Just a thought, nobody cares. Question actual plot holes, not something which is just stupid to discuss.
