I've actually been thinking this over for a while, but I decided to get feedback before implementing it.

Anyone up on conspiracy theories? The Illuminati? No? Well, the short of it is that in the 1779 (I think) Adam Weishaupt brought together a secret society dedicated to world order through control of the governments. Thus became the Illuminati, "enlightened", who have since run the world according to their opinion of world order.

Now, to switch topics. We all know that anything can become a Horcrux. This is inadvisable for a thinking being, due to their ability to get killed or destroyed. We also know Lord Voldemort is incredibly devious. What am I getting at?

Harry Potter does not exist. The night he died, The Dark Lord created his final Horcrux, from the body of the freshly slain Potter child. However, an unknown variable interfered, and Voldemort was blasted into a near-death state, his final seventh of soul pouring into the child's body.

Edit: as seen below, Amerision came up with this first. I had only heard of it in passing on a thread. I recieve anti-kudos.

Many of Voldemort's memories as Tom Riddle remain, and the mention of Horcruxes strikes a spark in that, long-locked corner of Harry's mind. His final destiny is to destroy all the Horcruxes, and absorb all of the soul to become the true Lord Voldemort.

The Illuminati, just being enlightened to the world of magic, decide to recruit an operative from the magical world. After much deliberation, the chosen is Harry Potter. Terrorist strikes, massacres, the breakdown of order, and the chaos created by a splinter group of power-hungry Illuminati set the world on a collision course.

The equation is set. There remains but one variable that will complete it and cause one of several outcome: Harry Potter. Will he accept his destiny, and begin where he left off? Will he join the Illuminati, and rule the world? Will he stay true to Dumbledore? Or will he join one of the new factions to propagate chaos?

...this is a mix of the Identity challenge by Amerision and my variation on it that I discussed with Amerision in IRC ages ago. Master Slytherin is writing almost exactly what you've described, and he's already posted snippets of it.

Ah. I had heard about the horcrux thing from here, but was unaware it was already a challenge. I apologize. However, I assume I still am able to write it. I doubt MS's version includes the Illuminati.
