Sooo.... Is it too early for a KH3 thread?

I've totally lost touch with the KH series since 2. So basically I missed all the portable titles.

If I want to try and get back into it, where should I start?

 

I'm in the same boat, and I'm waiting for the 2.5 Remix to come out. It'll be bundled with Birth By Sleep: Final Mix and that Re:coded game (not Dream Drop Distance apparently, though I'm unsure how important that game is), just as the 1.5 Remix had Chain of Memories and 358/2 Days bundled with it.

Spreading this series out over a bunch of different game systems was a stupid idea, and I'm not buying a PSP and whatever else for those games. I'd rather keep it all on the PS3.

 

2.5 looks to have Birth By Sleep playable, and re:Coded put together like Days was in 1.5. This leaves Dream Drop Distance as the only title not accounted for on the PS3 remixes, as far as I know.

 

I heard Dream Drop Distance was pretty frustrating. Maybe it's not a bad thing that I'll be missing out on it.

 

I haven't played it myself, but a friend of mine has and he's told me that the combat system and the lightheartedness of the game itself makes it worth it. Also, apparently Dream Drop Distance is extremely important for understanding KH3 and having read a few game reviews and articles, that seems to be the case.

I also couldn't wait for Birth By Sleep to be packaged into HD 2.5 and I'm sure as hell not gona buy another game console just to play a single game, so I've got it on an Emulator. I'm using the PPSSPP. I've tried playing BBS on JPCSP, but the frame rate for that game on the JPCSP is a bit slow. As for Re:Coded, having read the synopsis, it doesn't seem like there's a lot to be missed out story wise if you've never played it.

 

Yeah you probably need to play at least BBS if you want to understand what is going on in 3. 3D is also pretty important to the story... but just watching the cutscenes online will probably be good enough.

You can skip the rest of them though.

E3 2014 Teaser

Nothing spectacular, but it makes me excited for whatever SqE is going to reveal at E3.

"There will be (Kingdom Hearts III) news, and various things [at D23], I think. Development is going smoothly, but there will also be new announcements connected to it. As one of those new announcements, I think we should be able to announce a smartphone-specific development for the series in short order.”

Read into that what you will. D23 is in November. Maybe this means we won't see anything at E3, which makes sense. Square actually seems to have a lot of games to talk about anyway for once.

 

Ugh. I could very well just be resistant to change, but i felt the same way when FF team said they were making like 3 FFXV games before, one of which were mobile.

Just screams of milking the series to me, i just hope the quality/integrity doesn't suffer because of it.

I've been replaying all the collections that have released on PS4 in anticipation. The story is still ... incredibly confusing, but the trailers look like they keep the glorious confusion of button-mashing punctuated by cutscenes that is the combat system.

 

So 2020 then.
