So this has been open in my browser for at least 2 weeks maybe 3. It was my, I am really bored and want something to read, fic. I never really got super engaged in it but there was always enough there for me to not just close it out. I have had to put an end to it after 56 chapters. This story has just turned to pure trash after Naruto and Itachi fight Iwa straight through the chunin exams.

I did like the addition of Iwa being an antagonist and starting a war with them. But they basically wipe out 25% of the entire Iwa military in one battle with no real amount of casualties. Which Naruto was then chewed out for causing said route because of reasons.

The only parts that kept me reading were Itachi and Naruto. Everything else I had to force myself to push through to get back to the interesting parts. I actually like Orochimaru in this as well. At least when he wasn't "uncle rochi" and other such bullshit.

The rookies are annoying, make awful jokes like calling Sakura pinkette, are like super best friends and stuff, and are ten times stronger than in canon. Plus Hinata is just the best and super smart and is a good leader because she is mute. Sure, that makes sense.

I hate the daimyo, he reads like a bad SI character. He is peace-seeking but actually, he is this super ruthless character who will totally stab you in the back if he needs to guyz. Just ask him, he has said so pretty much every single scene he has. Oh, he is also like super smart and comes up with these brilliant plans like we should cause the enemy to overextend. Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Sarutobi are always amazed at his quick thinking and plans and why didn't they think of this.

I hate Akane or whatever Tsunade's daughter name is. Not her personality which actually is in line with a 6 year old, but the fact that she basically is more powerful than 12 year old Naruto was in canon. I mean she 's 12, has basically no training, and now she has Tsunade's super strength plus has basically full power over fire.

Naruto is at least interesting but what the fuck is going on with him. He came back in time with his knowledge but he is super gimped compared to what he should be. Itachi was able to slaughter his/her entire clan at 13, but Naruto just seems weak for someone who is the strongest person in the world at 16. He constantly brings up that he is stuck in his 12 year old body and isn't as powerful anymore. Which alright, but he was pulling Rasengan's off at 6 and he feels basically no more powerful at 12. Which brings up another thing, why the fuck has no one ever once said anything about him knowing how to do that since everyone who knows how to perform a Rasengan is dead. There was like one throw away line where Orochimaru basically said "Well that's weird that this 6 year old can not only perform a Rasengan but a perfected wind version as well". He came back at to stop Tobi but has done jack shit to accomplish that in 6 years. What is his plan? To just wait until he is 16 to fight Tobi again but more powerful even though he no longer is a jinchuuriki. To let Itachi do all the work? Why is Tobi even active fucking with Konoha, nothing that is different in this timeline would cause him to move his plan up 3 years?

But the most fucked up things. This dude off scene killed Jiraya. And he turned Minato into being a lucky SOB and the hiraishin into being something not that great and would only work once.

This was a 3/5 before the 6 year time skip and like a 1.5/5 after the time skip.

 

Anyone else following this? Hope we get some more Sasuke + Sakura in the coming chapters.

It feels like they've been a bit neglected since the exams (aside from the slight Sakura subplot). Seems like Kakashi might be doing the striking behind enemy lines with Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Itachi squad. Meanwhile on the front lines it's shaping up to be Naruto + A-rank squad vs 4 S-ranks + 2 Jinchuriki.

 

I'm pretty much in full agreement with this. There's an interesting premise here which goes downhill after a really unnecessary time skip. In the series the time-skip was forced because a) Orochimaru couldn't possess Sasuke for 3 years thus relieving the urgency on the matter and b) To upgrade the main casts power. In this case reason b is long because of reason a. The reason in this fic is a) a non-reason and b) unnecessarily long for the non-reason as it stands. And it just goes downhill from there 2/5

 

The latest AN said the author will wrap up the story in 12 or so chapters, I'd just wait until it's finished.

With how many plot threads he has to tie up I don't think it will end in a satisfying way.

 

Its been pretty nice to read though. I was annoyed by the timeskip when it first happened like (30?) chapters ago, but I think I actually like the story more now than I did than.

It's been okay. Last few chapters had some good fights, but the random wait between updates keep me from getting hype about it. Still a solid story though and I'm down until the end.

 

Holy moly, the wait paid off. Really enjoying how this is all going down.
