An owl swoops into the Great Hall just as Harry was finishing his History Exam. The proctor, thinking Harry is cheating, fails him.

    The letter:

    Dear Harry.

I hope this finds you well. I have written to inform you that I have kidnapped your godfather. I am torturing him in the Department of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic. I intend to continue doing this for quite some time (so no need to rush. Feel free to fly here rather than take the more expedient floo). If you wish to thwart me, please travel to level nine in the Ministry of Magic where I will have a Deatheater waiting to escort you to the Hall of Prophesies.

    Expecting you soon,

    Lord Voldemort
    Dark Lord

    Ignoring this part:
which doesn't make any sense. That would be a fucking hilarious to see.

Though according to the internet it's called "invigilator" in British English. Can a person from the UK confirm this?

    It is indeed invigilator, Wolf.

Really enjoyed this little piece. Hagrid's characterization was spot on and the whole thing was hilarious.

I thought it was a good piece, well written with good characterizations, but I didn't find it particularly humorous except in a couple parts. Still solid. 4/5

It was pretty good up until the part with Voldemort. Though it managed to redeem itself with the brick.

An excellent beginning, but it starts to lag in the middle with all the creatures. Well written and extremely funny.

Going to agree with everyone else so far. Everything was great until Voldemort got into Harry's head, though the end definitely redeemed things.

I really liked the short snippets featuring Hagrid introducing the different creatures. Was laughing pretty hard about that sock, errrrr fish. Whatever.

I lost my shit at the toads.

It's well written and more importantly, it's original. I agree the pacing when he brings out the menagerie one by one falls flat, but otherwise it's utterly brilliant.

    This seems overrated to me.

It has it's great moments, namely the idea itself, the brick and...
That's probably it, looking from my tower.
Everything else was ok, or at least not very bad.

I really hated only reading Hagrid's way of talking (accents are fine and good in films). I quite like the character, I never got along with his accent. (The fact that Lithuanian versions have him speaking normally, (with some mentions about his way of talking) probably had something to do with it as I started to read the books in native language.)
Having written that, perhaps 'hate' was too strong. It's annoying...? Yeah, that's about it.
So, it's sometimes hard to laugh (for me) when Hagrid is speaking, but there were a few smiles there and here.

So all in all we have a good idea, a drop of plot (perhaps an outline, not a plot per se) and a brick joke. Those are usually fun. Even when a tad bit literate.

I'm not going to rate it as it's already overrated even without me, and I don''t want my opinion affecting the outcome. (To tell the truth i just don't know what to pick. ;D And it's a bit too personal of a dislike to rate it low, and to rate it fairly I would have to get over myself.)

And the books were decent. I cracked up a smile.

I don't usually read humour fics, but ended up reading this one and I wasn't disappointed. It did drag on a bit with the different creatures and the whole Voldemort head thing, but a good read that gave me some laughs none the less.

I don't think this needs any more repetitions of griping about the Voldemort scene from me.

    Overall, pretty solid and amusing.

I enjoyed this a fair amount. Not the funniest thing ever, but it was pretty good overall. 4/5.

Also, Xiph, I'd rather steal soem bricks myself.
