    That was hilarious. And awesome.

It showed "Sorry this video is not available" when I tried to re-watch it in high-quality, but refreshing the page made it work.

"We'll hit on your building next."

I didn't know of this fetish.

    Edit:
    They suck at Tetris.

If thats real I'll give up dolphins...

For one thing real modders don't use obvious led's to make theire devices look techy.

I know... It was an empty promise.

It was only there for hyperbole.

Is anyone sure it's fake? Or is it one of those 'I heard it from a friend that this isn't real' things? It does look realistic...

    1. The graph that's shown on the laptop just looks like memory usage panel for Win XP. Such a graphic could be easily faked too.

    2. What's up with the countdown?

    3. Zooming in on guy in building.

But how they did the building lights ... I'm not skilled enough in video editing to know how that was done. There's another light hacking video on you tube, and it doesn't look quite as nice or vibrant (done by some chinese dudes).

    Very convincing, nevertheless.

The video editing for the lights was too well done.

I don't think any apartment complex has lights with that kind of refresh rate to support the kind of purported movement in the video - I think that even good quality fluroscent/halogen lights require at least a second or two to turn back on after being turned off.

The thing that made it seem fake to me was the two guys reactions, their random jumping and screams of "YES!" just seemed so wrong and acted. I'm pretty sure it's fake.

Of course you can't use the ordinary lights installed in the ceiling.

There have been various installments of that kind all over the world. I've seen one in Berlin about two years ago and have read of buildings with playable installations. IIRC the installation includes special floodlights installed in every office which are controlled by a rather simple software. It's like a small primitive LED display.

The guys probably faked their own action and perhaps the man in the office but I think the installation was real - though perhaps not playable. If you browse youtube you'll find several similar videos, even with more than one colour.

EDIT: Here is an example realized in 2000. This group used Christmas light chains: http://bastilleweb.techhouse.org/
