Good point why does JKR always talk up her books when the last 2 absolutley sucked ass. The whole deal with Lily revealing a secret really angers me because she keeps telling us something bigs gonna happen, but nothing has, except the horocrux thing, which i felt shouldn't of been revealed at all, because now we know what is going to happen. She should of released book 6 and 7 within a few months of eachother.

My personal theory as to what the secret about Lily will be in the seventh book is that she was engaged in a lesbian relationship with Narcissa behind their respective husband's backs. *wipes away nosebleed* At least that's what I wouldn't mind seeing.

Lily's secret had to have been something she knows. It has to be something big enough for Voldemort to not try to kill her for. Maybe something about immortality.

 

Yeah, but it can't be overdone if JKR never read fannon before. Whatever she writes is cannon and original, even if we have all read it somewhere before, and if you read post HBP stories, I would say it's guaranteed that you are going to see some of the same concepts creep up, for example, the whole R.A.B being Regulus Black. We know what the Horocruxes are placed in, just not where, but someone will eventually get one of the locations right just by the mere chance. That is why I think JKR should have released the 7th book within a few months of the 6th since basically book 7 is a continuation of book 6.

Hmm, Vold did give Lily the chance to survive, but she refused in order to protect Harry. Why would he give a muggle born witch the opportunity to survive I think this is important. Does this have to do with Lily being good at potions, or charms for that matter? Did this have to do with Snape not wanting Vold to kill Lily? We really havn't been given too much information about Lily or Snape to come up with any solid evidence. This might explain why Snape has been a cock sucker to Harry since he would be a constant reminder Lily and James someone he loved and someone he hated.

Just because the original author uses the same concept that is regarded as trite and cliched in thousands of fanfics does not suddenly make it fresh and original. It does make it canon, but canon can be cliched. HBP was an incredibly cliched book setting up a cliched Book Seven, which is essentially a treasure hunt for the safety of the world.

Also, I highly doubt that JKR has never read any fanfic based on her own stories and characters. If I was a published author with an insanely popular fanfic community, I'd become involved or at the very least keep an eye on it.

What you're saying is she is stealing others ideas, but I don't think she is plagiarizing. I read somewhere that she doesn't read fanfics for this reason. To say she is stealing from other authors is a possibility definatly, it would be hard not to be influenced by other authors. The treasure hunt was setup from book 1 though. All the things protecting the stone are similar in the way that the horocruxes are protected by enchantments.

Also the books seem to have a correlation between each other.

Book 1 Harry faces vold First time, still invincible.
Book 7 Harry faces vold Last time, not invincible (assumed)

Book 2 incompetent professor-introduction to first horocrux
Book 6 competent professor (up to interpretation) advanced spells through potion book and silent spell casting. Understanding of Horcurxes.

Book 3 Good professor
Book 5 Bad professor teaches nothing.

Book 4 Volds Return: standalone book no correlations?

I mean, I read a lot of fics before book 5 came out, and the moment they mentioned the reason V wanted to off Harry was a goddam prophecy, that was the moment I stopped reading; and I actually had to put up with it in canon! You think that's not cliché?
