What is your opinion of the voice acting of Jim Dale in the harry potter audio books as well as the audio books themselves?

Personally, I would rather listen to the audio books over the movies because my imagination coupled with the spot on voices of every character in the series = the movies that should of been made

I swear his dumbledore sounds just like Richard Harris and as does his lucius malfoy sound like Jason Issacs as do countless other characters whats freaky is the audio books were made before the casting of movie 1

All in all I find them extremely enjoyable

P.s. what does the uk version sound like?

I've never listened to the audio books but I'm pretty sure that Stephen Fry does the UK versions. He has a good voice for this sort of thing.

Ahem. I find Stephen Fry to be a pretty good narrator, but I never have to patience to go through the audio tapes/cds/books. I really find that audio books kind of adds a new experience - I remember listening to the tapes of the Hobbit - enjoyable to say the least.

I have actually listenedto both of them and i personally thought that fry did the better job, dunno why. They were both good at it yes but fry just seemed to catch the mood better for me.

I'm very interested in listening to these. My friend was driving from Ohio to Florida, and he listened to book one and a bit of the second during his trip. He said it was awesome, so i'm gonna check them out.

I've heard a bit of Fry and he is, of course, outstanding. Slightly off topic but he was superb at the BAFTAS =)

I've got a couple of the stephen fry ones on tape. They were pretty good and entertaining and all that while you travel but if im just staying at home i preferred to read it the old fashioned way. I just think it makes the story better as you take EVERYTHING in whereas if some guy is speaking it out to you, your likely to miss some stuff.
