There was a fic I read a couple years ago, I don't remember much about it, but it involved Naruto turning out to be the Yondaime de-aged, and everyone forgetting about "Naruto Uzumaki" except for Sakura. I think she left town to look for him and everywhere she went in her search cherry trees appeared, which turned out to contain people's memories of Naruto, or something like that.

Any of this sound familiar to anyone?

I've read a story that matches this description. Despite how it sounds, it was actually one of the more readable NaruSaku fluff stories out there, though incomplete. If I'm not mistaken, it was written by one of the more talented writers in the fandom. If I were to bet, I'd guess that it was an old Digifruit story dating back to before he took down many of his old stories.
