Lucid Dreaming is the act of controlling your dreams. It is proven possible and has been done.

    General Overiew from Wikipedia:

Lucid dreaming is basically dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming. If you are in a lucid dream, you will usually have some power over your dream — anything from being able to fly or making an object or room appear behind a door or inside a pocket, right up to being able to change into animals and create a whole world! It is like being a director of your own movie.
Lucid dreams have been scientifically proven to exist. Stephen LaBerge of The Lucidity Institute used a special machine to track eye movements during a dream (these are linked to your eye movements within the dream). He asked lucid dreamers to point their eyes left and right in quick succession once they became "conscious" in their dreams, and this movement was recorded on the machine.

    How to do it:

The ability to manipualate what you dream about is amazing. You can do virtually anything. Go Voldemort on your enemies while you are lucid dreaming.

If anyone gets this down, tell me!

I've read many articles about this and tried it many times, but never once have I succeded. I suppose I need those specialist eye goggles for it to work...

A few times I have managed to be in a dream and realise it's a dream, but this always forces me awake.

This happens to me about five times a month at random nights.
I usually just see black until I realise I can control it but only in small ways like instead of changing the complete dream only a few things can be changed. There is always one thing that stays the same. I found that if I try to do alot of things its to straining and I wake up.

Its hard to pull off since once you realize its a dream you tend to wake up. Somthing simpler to once you wake up from a dream focus on the dream and try to go back to sleep, if you do it right your subconscience (sp?) will take over and you can watch the rest of the dream play out even while half awake. You still have trouble remembering afterwards though.:(

Lucid dreaming is one of my favorite things to do. It helps me focus my imagination on my stories when I'm lucky enough to get one, but I'll try these techniques to remember and control dreams.

A lot of people I know have them, but sadly, I can never do it. One way to get to it is to keep a dream journal...but I'm way to lazy to do that.

It would be fun though, to control my dreams.

Quesiton to anyone that has had them:

Do you feel as aware as you are in real life, or do you still have that muddy look through the distorted glass feeling?

Can you vaguely controll things, only to have them take on their own lives, or do things expressly obey you?

Well, for me, its the same as a regular dream ( no muddy look through the distorted glass feeling,)

I start dreaming, and all this stuff goes on. I can basicly do what I want. I don't really know how do describe it without having a non lucid dream

I do them all the time when I have long enough to sleep and dream.

It starts out that at first I won't know I'm dreaming, but generally some weird thing happens that doesn't seem right, and I'll notice that it seems like everything is taking forever to occur.

At which point I'll try to force some things to happen, fun usually ensues.

I have noticed though that it doesn't really help me relax, I wake up feeling like I nvever slept at all, and mentally still tired.

I do often replay real life happenings and try to do what if's, which has lead to me over analysing everything, which is annoying as hell. It's helpedme see different perspectives on things though. Overall I find it amusing, but it just always feels like a really long ass movie that good, but you just want it to end and wake up.

I usually don't remember what I dreamed, but I know that this happened a few times to me. But maybe I was in a half awake state because it didn't last long and I woke up after wards. But I'll try to do it tonight.

As I interpret this, it is like your God and can do anything and everything you want. If that is correct, this I have achieved this many times. Its quite the thrill to be able to do this too.

I can kind of do it. If i have a dream, then randomly wake up in the middle of it, but am still kind of drowsy i can imagine what i want to happen, go back to sleep and watch it unfold. I don't really do it on purpose though, i think its my imagination being stuck between sleeping and awake. I've never been able to do it before i sleep though, i always have to be asleep, wake up and then go back to sleep for it to happen.

The dreams that I remember are almost exclusively lucid.

Usually happens about once every 2-3 weeks.

Ok for those of you who don't know if you sleep a few hours (it differs for everybody but at least 3 hours) you will have a dream. You may not remember it but it will happen unless there is something like drugs that stop it. So stop saying if you dream or that you don't dream much. Most people have several dreams a night. The amount of time for transition in between dreams lessens as you sleep longer. It has to do with sleep cycles which you can find out about though books and websites that deal with psychology.
