do Lupin and Tonks even have very much interaction through the Harry Potter series up to the Half-Baked Plot? where did JKR get this pairing at?

 

For all we know they could have had tons of interaction. They weren't mentioned hardly at all throughout the story.

ahh I see what your saying. bah I dont like the pairing maybe because I like the Harry/Tonks ship. but yeah.

 

Like the rest of us she reads fan fiction and steals ideas from there. She saw how much all the little Fan girls and boys loved romance and they were two of the only other people who could be applicable to date. Tonks/Kingsley or Tonks/Mad-eye doesn’t quite work. That and Lupin is one of everyone’s fav character according to polls on other websites so she wanted to give him something good after all the crap that has happened to him.

but its obvious i think remus is eventually the "father" to harry and i'm sure tonks will have a more motherly role (hopefully other than molly)

Yeah. That pairing. That was one of the "where the fuck did that come from" things. I don't like it, I don't like the way it was introduced, I don't like the way Tonks was portrayed in the relationship. And I gaged at that scene in the hospital. *shudder*

It seemed so unrealistic and fake. But then most of HPB felt that way.

This was the one point in the book that I wanted to throw the whole thing into a bonfire (not for ideological reasons, but cause it was a waste of trees, time, energy etc). That was when I realized that the hints in OoTP about the power of love, that I had ignored despite the gibbering voice in my head, was horribly real. That was when I realized that JKR was going for the "love conquers all" theme. Man I wanted to strangle her...

Tonks/Lupin is something I can tolerate but that does not mean I like it. They, I donno, just don't seem to fit together...

 

Ahh i don't think Tonks will survive but i agree with Remus living. I think Remus has bad luck because i personally think that to be cruel (if we get lucky it is JKR afterall..) JKR may have Remus live after witnessing his bestfriends die, Dumbledore's death, countless other deaths, Pettigrews death (i think JKR will redeem him only to kill him a couple of chapters later), being a werewolf, possibly watching his bestfriends sons death, his "love interest" being killed would only torture him even more.

On a side note, if what i said above stays true than maybe the part of the Epilogue dedicated to Remus will say something like " After the war Remus Lupin couldn't face life, he left a short note before stabbing himself through the heart with a silver knife. He wasn't missed."

Know on to my thoughts on Lupin/Tonks..

Lupin is too old for Tonks but Tonks is too old for Harry, so my logic says that since Bill is taken, and Tonks is a fun person that she may end up with Charlie. They're about the same age and Tonks might find his profession interesting. I also think Kingsley may've worked for a while as well; they work together and are in the order together but it would ultimately hurt them in being profesionals and may let there emotions get in the way of there work.

 

Good point but there is one mistake, this is a children book i don't think there is any chance of there being a suicide. That would bring the church people down on the book series to a whole new level and some parents would probally turn on it also.

I kind of expecting some sort of redemption for the "dark" creatures cause for a childrens book the prejudices are a little extreme. Maybe at the end they help in the battle and they repeal all the stupid laws against vampires and werewolf.

 

Haha i was actually kidding about the suicide, but it would be funny..

8 years makes no difference when your 20 and dating a 28 year old, but a 16 year old or even a 17 year old dating a 24/25 year old is pretty big.

 

Do we even know how old Tonks is?
She seems to be maybe twenty when she first makes her appearance, at least that's what it seems like.
She is supposed to be newly graduated from auror training that probably starts after 7th year making her 21 when in Harry's fifth year...

This plausible but in my opinon unlikely due to What JK has inferred as in the last book she says more characters are going to die and hints towards Harry's demise.This makes me think that she'll most likely have him die in his fight with Voldie just because she doesn't want another author to use him,which I think is selfish.

Also I don't like the pairing because the only guy I can see Tonks getting together with is Harry.

 

Age isn't really a matter if you think about it. People can live to be 150, really fucking old, so when you think about it, age isn't that big in the Wizarding world.

And besides, as much as I hate it, Tonks has her own appearance issues, as does Remus. They are both changed by what they can do. She is probably teaching Remus it's okay, and Remus is saying to her, I will never use you.
