First of all I couldn't really decide where to post this so move it if need be. I have been looking online for some website where you can play mafia games but while I found many forums where people play the game like us but I am looking for something else, like webdiplomacy.net is for the game of diplomacy.

Where one person can start a game, and people join. Roles get assigned randomly. There is an inbuilt forum/chat for talking, people allowed to chat with other specific people can do that separately. And people can submit their night/day actions directly too. Everything gets automated, so no one needs to perform the actions or count the votes etc.

I am not sure if there exists a site like this.

    If there does, tell me.

If there isn't I think it is time to revive The Game.

    Thoughts?

Thanks for the replies. I am going to wait a day and see the response and then we can move ahead accordingly.

This is something definitely not starting immediately. I have exams till roughly 10th of Jan. After that I am free for a few weeks, we can probably get to this then but still we can jumble ideas around and decide what to program in for now. I am pretty good with PHP and MySQL but the problem is I haven't worked on a project in almost a year and so my skills are not only rusty but a little outdated, I need to catch up before I start working again.

I heartily approve, since this is something DLP will actually use and thus feel the incentive to work on.

I was actually going to build something like this myself. One feature I had in mind was randomised display names for each new game, so people don't just get lynched because of who they are (Taure) or not lynched for being a girl.

    Prevent meta gaming right?

Simple, let the game starter decide to show the usernames or keep them anonymous :) That is what webdiplomacy does anyway and I am sure it will work out here.

The more I think about it the more I feel that even a few modification to their code can result in a mafia game but I would like to build it from scratch.

I think from now on when you post, say what you can do. Like planning or programming or any way you can contribute in.

Web development isn't really my strong suit so I'll contribute a little where I can.

I came across a site called Epic Mafia the other day, and while it isn't exactly what you are looking for, it looks cool. You can join games or create games, and you can even play with webcam, which is kind of interesting. The only problem is that you can only pick from 27 different role types, and can't create your own roles, as far as I can tell.

Would anyone be interested in playing a few games on there?
