I'm bouncing around some ideas for a crossover between HP and Mage the Ascension (or Awakening) and I was wondering if there were any fics that had done this before. I'm mainly asking because I want to see how other authors handled combining the two.

Not that I've seen. Not even bad ones.

A crossover with Harry Potter and the World of Darkness has a lot of potential, particularly if you include Requiem and Werewolf.

As far as how the mechanics go, assuming you plan on merging the HP magic system with Awakening, you'll have a lot to contemplate. The systems actually have a lot in common, including magic in Awakening being costless. Sure, there's mana, but one doesn't need it to cast spells, it just gives benefits. Maybe you could say wands mitigate paradox and makes magic much easier.

The big difference is that Mages in Awakening aren't born magical, they become so after Awakening. Personally, I think it'd be best just to go with inherited magic for storyline purposes.

Right...the big problem you would come across in trying something like this is that in Mage you can actually do anything, and can destroy the world with a single spell if you work the system correctly.

And I've certainly seen nothing of this sort in the fandom before.

I think it would be fantastic.
