*Shrug* I agree, I never said it was. I pointed out that it was borderline.

...So you did. There is one Zelda game that is kinda an RPG. It's the seoncd game made, Links Awakening, I think. Although, my favorite Mario game was probably Super Mario RPG, and fav Zelda game is LoZ: A Link to the Past. Anywho, has anyone besides me seen the video for the New Super Mario Bros. game? It looks so cool.

Twilight Princess, next Zelda game. The graphics for that game KICK ASS. Go to ign or gamespot to see what I mean. All screens or videos are in-game.

I loved super metroid, there is just no way to express the coolness of that game. Zelda I thought was ok, but I only really enjoyed the ones on the 64, the others were so so.

I remember Mario3 and 64 with fondness, they were cool.

By the way, does anybody else remember that Nintendo infomercial movie, The Wizard? Or am I the only one;0

Way back when Nintendo released a movie that was basiclly nothing but an infomercial about the greatness of Nintendo. It was basicilly designed for ten year olds, however the language for what were meant to be 'hip young teenagers' was very very bad.

Which of course brings the funniest qoute from the Movie: "I LOVE the Power Glove, its so bad."

I bought a power glove b/c of that movie actually, that thing was bad. It was the worst, most useless POS I've ever seen, next to that lil robot thing they had. The only use I got out of it was cutting the cord and beating people with the glove.

the best use of the PowerGlove i think was that few minute appearence in the Nightmare on Elmstreet movie...

and for the record ... The Wizard IS the worst movie EVER made...

    Bumping an old topic, but...

FPS just stands for First Person Shooter. Nothing else defines the genre other than the fact that you see in first person, and shoot things. Thus, Metroid Prime is an FPS, even though it is more of an Adventure Game. Things can be multiple genres you know.

Similarly, RPG stands for Role Playing Game. If you are taking control of a character, and playing out his/her story, it is a role playing game. Thus, Zelda is also an RPG.

Ah, but by your definitoin ALL games are RPG's. Generally, in an RPG you gain levels, gain experience, learn new skills, have random battles, etc.

And Metroid Prime was classified as an FPA by Nintendo and Retro Studios themselves.

Here are some explanations of the two genres: FPA and RPGs

And as I have read on Wikipedia, Zelda contains partial elements of role-playing. Read it here

Actually, some games you do not take control of your character - I consider an RPG any game that contains at least a single story to follow.

Tetris is not an RPG. Pokemon is. Mario is (technically) an RPG.

But the general defined terms of an RPG is in fact a game where you control a party through a plot, with leveling up and stuff.

On the metroid issue, I don't budge as much, because all you do is explore and shoot stuff. I don't see a difference between that goal-based game and something like say, counterstrike, other than an enriched plot, environment, and control style.

    You troll.

    :D

I prefer Nintendo over Sony and MS, for pretty obvious reasons.

    a) I have a computer.
    b) I don't feel like buying another one just to attach it to my TV.

Heh, Nintendo is going down, and Sony is going up in the gaming world. And sadly, so is Microsoft. But...the Xbox or PS2 aren't really computers, their successors are, I think.

:) Maybe, I retain a small amount of faith that Nintendo will again pull itself out of the ditch.

On Topic: I just played Ocarina of Time again, so again, Zelda remains my favourite.

If Sony is going up, and Nintendo is going down, then why is the Nintendo DS out selling the Sony PSP by rather large margins? Answer me that Sree.
