I think that it's pretty decent too, fairly camp and unserious, but still fun. I think that binge watching it might be a mistake though, it's best enjoyed one or two episodes at a time.

I binged it, was definitely still great. It lets you hold all the clues in memory at once.

Behind the scenes for Agatha. It was almost 100% practical effects. It cost less than a fifth the amount that secret invasion did and looked a lot better than most other TV shows, possibly even better than some movies.

(Granted, that's mostly due to the absurdity that is secret invasion's budget, but even Loki was 160M-ish.)

I think that moving away from a reliance on CG effects (And even new tools like the volume) is a move that can really help a lot of the Disney shows. Some of the later Avengers movies even have a very animated and samey look to their CG, where shows like Andor which were primarily shot on location with real extras and effects look great.

It’s seems to be universal with fans that CGI is worse now than it used to be and way over done.

i think if the VFX industry manages to unionise it would be the best thing to happen to Hollywood movies.

CGI is better than ever. Really what's changed is that CGI has become so ubiquitous, that it's no longer the exclusive domain of those directors and producers who are passionate about it.

Also the whole "made with practical effects" is mostly marketing bullshit. This youtube series is an excellent showcase what that really means: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgdTaHO8FLEve_XFiRBEcOSkRdd-Txjne

While true, watch the video I posted above. Agatha really *was* filmed primarily with practical effects. They showed them setting up and building most of them. The flooded house is probably the most impressive, but the broom riding, the flaming concert, and the sword ceiling all looked really good and really interesting.
