Pretty stoked for this new phase. Chadwick Boseman looks like the ideal T'Challa, and Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange should be awesome too (he definitely can pull off that egotistical aura Strange had prior to his accident flawlessly - fuck Cumberbatch is all-round magnificent).

I love DC but go Marvel!

Oh, and I never quite jumped onto the Coulson bandwagon. Glad he's not going to be Captain Marvell. Or Mar-Vell. That would have been weird. Carol Danvers ftw.

I am curious what will they do in Phase 4, if one happens at all. I mean, there's a lot of less-known Marvel character they could use, but which ones?

 

There are a few details that need to be sorted yet, but apparently Marvel got the Namor movie rights back this past June...

 

I think I may be the only one who isn't that excited about Cumberbatch playing Dr. Strange. For some reason he just doesn't really fit the image of a superhero for me even if he is a fantastic actor. Keanu Reeves was rumored for the role too and I think he looks like a better Strange, but I'm not sure whether his acting would be up to snuff.

 

Namor is an annoying prick and makes Aquaman look useful. Just saying. Cumberbatch is good, but I really wanted Joaquim Phoenix, he could be perfect.

 

Wait, what use is Namor without the F4 rights?

 

The thing about Dr. Strange is that he doesn't fit the typical mold (appearance, physique, etc) for a superhero. For the most part Cumberbatch has the right build for the character, and after he receives his powers he remains fairly unchanged except for a bunch of magical artifacts and a gaudy robe-costume thingie. The only nitpick against Benedict is that his face doesn't quite match Strange's (in the comics - Reeves' does), but that's just a nitpick.

And just my opinion but for reasons unknown I dislike Joaquim Phoenix as an actor, so I'm pretty glad he didn't get the role.

 

Marvel had a script for Runaways for years but wanted a more established universe before they release it.

Gunn wants to do Thunderbolts and Hitmonkey after GOTG.

 

Shouldn't Ant-Man be in that list somewhere?

It's tough to know where they can go next. I'd like to see Hulk get a movie that isn't terrible (and isn't World War Hulk). Namor and Moon Knight are the only big hitters I can think of who aren't disqualified for being mutants. Maybe Blade or Punisher if those rights have reverted. Maybe Daredevil or Heroes for Hire if the Netflix series are successful. After that, you're scraping the barrel for C-list shit like 3D-Man and She-Hulk.

I'd love to see the new Ms. Marvel get a movie. The Kamala Khan version. She's like Spider-Man in his best stories, just a kid trying to figure out the responsibilities of being a hero and being an adult. She's only got something like eight issues right now, but maybe by the time they get around to working on Phase 4...
