Uh... properly referenced? What the fuck? There were no citations at all in that Wiki entry.

This is the most fun thread I've read in a while. Thank you for bringing this about. It's always fun to read massive amounts of concentrated failure. I'm not directing this at you personally, just this particular topic.

(Personally, I loved your spoiler warning in the title. )

    In other news, inb4ban.

I heard that they teach citation very well in India...

You should send the OP there. To learn. >_>

Did anybody read that? Maybe I'm too lazy, but I couldn't be stuffed reading a rehash of HP with themes and all that crap, all accuracy aside. Maybe if I was still in Year 12, needing to do a 1000 words essay on Harry Potter for my VCE Exams, I'd have a read. Otherwise, I'll take HP for what it was- a relatively entertaining read with a great fanfiction base.

    Oh, better question.

    Does anybody care?

I definitely didn't. I don't think I read any of it but the title.

Actually, I'm bored enough that I actually might, so I can have the bragging rights of actually reading the whole thing... Nah, not worth it.

    And no, I don't care.

    Here's a poll:

Who's the bigger douchebag - OP or the guy who invented the word "exformation"?

Myself, I'm undecided on this issue.

Your literary exposure must be quite minimal if you praise Rowling so much. Faced with a good author you'd probably incur a stroke.

The sheer volume of fail in this thread boggles the mind. OP, you have your points, but much of it seems to be an attempt to rationalize bad writing decisions by Rowling. Personally, I loved the series. I wouldn't run a Harry Potter community otherwise. But the failures are evident, especially in the final books which I feel lost their magic.

If you want to post on DLP, you'd do will to grow a thicker skin and learn to give as good as you get. Your crude attempts thus far have not impressed.

Zombie, the same applies to you. Your posts could use some...polishing.

I don't know about you, but I would rather not read 700 pages about Dumbledore's love of cock.

It would probably be hit with the retarded fangirl market though.

I would enjoy 700 pages of Dumbledore's adventures with the Elder Wand. If you know what I mean.

To quote my favorite HP reviewer, Mike Smith:

"It strikes me that we all assimilate Harry Potter into our own source of amusment. Whether that's making characters gay, forcing Harry and Hermione to marry, suing the author, publishing books to speculate on the outcome of the other books, drawing twelve-year-old boys fellating each other on the back of a llama, or simply rewriting the books from scratch because Rowling doesn't "get" her own characters, I really haven't met anyone who reads these books on their own merit. It's always about what they could be. In reality, Draco Malfoy is a crappy nonvillain bit player, but he could be a ravishing bad boy, Shadow the Hedgehog as played by Tom Felding.

So I guess the moral to these books is less about what the characters learn and more about what you learn when you read them. Making lemons into lemonade. Turd-polishing 101. Take a crappy book and pretend it's not as bad. Make it yours. And I guess, Norrin, that's what I've been trying to say all along. We're all lovers of peace and beauty, banished to live on a world of madmen, even as we ourselves are the madmen. Every prisoner another's jailer. You can wallow in your own pity, or rise above it all and click your tongue at the folly of the people around you, or you can embrace the situation, and try to turn it into something salvagable. Does that make any sense? I mean, you've been awfully quiet so far. What do you have to say?"

    Whats with the cloak

I was just thinking... The invisibility cloak can hid you from Death right? And since Death is one of the constants of life and the universe. Is Moody's eye more powerful than Death, if this is true then, hypothetically of course, using the eye you could surpass Death. Wonder if Voldemort would spend more of his minions trying to kill a crusty old paranoid ex-auror... For the Eye of ...[insert impressive name here]

Most likely Rowling just threw the Hallows in at the very end, giving no thought to what happened in previous books. When she wrote that, the cloak wasn't anything other than a normal one.

So if she re-wrote them now, Moody probably wouldn't be able to see it.

Or, the Peverell brother that made the Cloak was simply a very gifted wizard who basically did what Nicholas Flamel did, 'hide from Death' is a bit of obvious fairy-tale hyperbole, and there have been advances in magical knowledge since the Peverell brother died.

Which do you think is more likely of the two?
