Sigh. Anyone who's actually heard of Master Eldryn knows very well he doesn't want his fics posted anywhere. Annoying, frustrating, but I think as the author it's his right to say no to public distribution. Friends secretly sending friends files are beyond any reach of policing in my opinion, but public websites and posting places, just the same as JKR could theoretically say no HP fan fiction, I feel Master Eldryn can say don't put my fics up.

But at least they won't be so hard to track down now.

Sadly it's just about his first fic and not one of my favorites even.

 

By the fact that he has left the fanfiction world, does that not imply that he has given up and does not care anymore? I'd say that would be a good arguement people use when posting his fics.

However, to me, the whole idea of people thinking they have rights concerning other people's fanfiction sounds very trident-y, so I'm with nonjon on this one.

 

I wasn't a big fan of the Dragon's Tear either. Make no mistake that it was well written, but it was nothing compared to his other stories.

 

I'm not certain he left the fanfiction world. He just stopped wanting to share his fanfiction. I think he may still read it sometimes. And I'm not sure of Master Eldryn's reasons, but he may have been wanting to use some of the ideas in his original fiction. In which case, it would make sense to remove all your fanfiction and ask them to never be posted again.

Even if he doesn't have a good reason, he just wants them gone, I think that should be his right too.

 

JKR could theoretically say no to HP fan fiction, but after already putting out her HP books she couldn't just ask for them all back so no one can read them, so why should Master Eldyrn be aloud to get away with putting out a bunch of stories, which many people took the time to review and then be able to just say he doesn't want anyone to read them anymore and get them all taken down? That's just gay.

 

Its his choice, just respect what the author wants.

 

Look man, let's say that you create a fanfiction of your own.The fanfiction is great but is left uncompleted and you abandon it. Would you honestly want some guy to potentially mess up your story? Even if he does a great job it still won't be the same thing that you would want it to be. It is kind of like you have an unfinished painting which you spent your heart and soul on. Then suddenly you die or something happens, it would be very messed up if someone completed it for you.

 

I don't like the way the FF.net member who re-posted these fics is asking or "challenging" people to complete the stories. He sounds like a prick. If Master Eldryn wanted to complete his fics...he would. Stuff like this will probably piss him off even more IMO.

At any rate, the story was very good despite it being a little fluffy in parts. Dueling scene was pathetic though. I just wish he'd post some of Master Eldryn's later stories.

Someone under anonymous review "Master Eldryn" posted and yelled at this guy. I doubt it was actually him, but you never know.
