so that's the site. i remember that site when my little sister went there for school project

 

How I made the sig:

First thing I did was make about 15 layers of rain(you can find how I did that in one of my posts before this one).

Then I looked for a good storm clouds pic with a light spot where I could put the lightning, I found it and played around with the burn/dodge tools(very important tools for a photoshoper) I named the layer "clouds"

Then I made a new layer and looked for a good pic of lightning against a black background/sky. Once I found that I copied it into the sig, scaled it and erased everything but the main bolt(nothing branching off), so left with only the single streak I set the blending mode to screen just incase I missed any of the background(screen mode doesn't show black) and moved it so that it looked like it was coming from the bright spot in the clouds. I then named the layer "big lightning"

Then I made a new layer and rendered some clouds(filter>render>clouds) Then I used filter>render>difference clouds, I continued rendering difference clouds until I got a couple streaks that I liked, they happened to be black, so I inverted that layer and then took the black almost all the way down in levels(image>adjustments>levels) and set the blending mode to, you guessed it, screen. After some erasing and transforming I set them to come from the bright spot. After that I named the layer "medium lightning"


Made a new layer again, then it was fun time with the one pixel pencil tool(right click the brush tool.) I made the little streaks that branch out from the "medium lightning" streaks. I gussian(sp? I don't feel like opening PS to find out) blurred that layer with a radius of .05 pixels.

I opened the pic of the kinght(already rendered in png. form) and selected the whole pic with the marquee tool and copped it. I moved over to my sig and pasted it, after some scaling, burning and dodging it was set. Then I moved it over by the lightning with the move tool and set the layer on-top of all the lightning layers, but underneath the rain layers.

Time for some text, easy enough, I just typed the text, went into the blending op's gave it a one pixel black stroke and gradient overlayed it.

Time to move to image ready.

One it was moved into IR I did the same thing with the rain layers that I did last time, only seventeen times, then, once I got to the last layer of rain, I went back the first layer and did it all over again. I did this until I had about 50 frames of rain. Then I selected the 24th frame and made the "big lightning" layer visible in that frame, I did the same for the 25th, then on the 26th I made the "Big lightning" and "medium lightning" layers visible, same on the 27th. Then on the 28th I finally made the "small lightning layer visible. I did the same on the 29th, 30th, 31st and 32nd frames, then on the 33rd I made only the medium and big layers visible, same with the 34th. 35th I made only the big lightning visible, same on the 36th.

And there you go.

thanks to DGD inspiring me, I took a pic I'd given him, which he added text to and shrunk for me, and I figured out how to add isolated rain thanks to most of the tutorial above, and a buncha other improvements.
