Well, I'm staying with the minecraft realms (survival) I have at the moment. I have 20 slots (9 taken so far). Anyone interested to join us on the server are welcome as long as you follow these basic rules:

    1. Don't destroy shit without the consent of the one who built it.
    2. Don't steal/take resources from someone without their consent.
    3. Don't be an ass

If you're interest in joining us send me a PM with your minecraft user and I'll whitelist you to the realm.

You can use the setup shack right besides the spawn point to get some wool, sugar cane, wheat or simply as protection during the night until you have your own base of operation. Please ensure it stays in good condition for the next player (replant the stuff you take, feed the animals so we don't end without any, etc.)

You got your own server? Or you mean singleplayer?

Singleplayer. I don't like playing with others.

All is well, but Enviromine has a tendency to destroy floors of structures if they're unsupported. Like, for example, dungeons from the Dungeon Pack. If there's water instead of land under the floor, it'll come crashing down as soon as you punch a single block.

I suppose it adds to the difficulty. You can imagine my surprise when I entered a room full of zombies, accidentally destroyed a block instead of the spawner and the entire floor fell down into the water. Water, I might add, was now full of zombies which kept spawning because the spawner was now several blocks above me.

Normal. With these mobs it'd be impossible not to die once or twice.

Infernal Mobs alone makes things outright Satanic. Imagine a Skeleton which sets you on fire, is invisible and if you hit him with your sword you are poisoned.

You can disable those things in the config files. To be honest, I think Enviromine is a bit gimmicky - I'm not sure you'll enjoy playing with it after you're mostly established, it gets to just be a chore.

Have you ever played Minecraft is Too Easy?

It is a very nice test to separate the hardcore players from the newbies.

It basically turns the game into a super-realistic, hellish fight for survival.

You want to punch trees for wood? Not here!

Similar to Terrafirmacraft there, but that has a bit more complicated food/mining.

I'm familiar with Terrafirmacraft as well. Also, the mod Better Than Wolves is something I know too.

Never seen Minecraft Is Too Easy before, but I'm a big fan of Terrafirmacraft. I love the feel of it; quite relaxing, really.

Don't know if I ever posted this here or not but I just submitted my Divided Sky build album to reddit!

I've been holding off on this because I offered to let JadedCat use it in her upcoming modpack, but it's been months and months and I haven't heard anything from her about it.

So, I want to get into Minecraft. Well, let me rephrase. I'm already into Minecraft. I've been watching Minecraft videos for over a year probably. There's maybe 5 or so youtubers that I'm subscribed to that I try to watch occasionally (my favorite series right now is Ssundee and Crainer's Skyfactory). I've only ever played the console version though, and I want to play the real thing (with all the awesome mods I keep seeing).

The problem is, I don't want to get overwhelmed by convoluted bullshit. I'm a SSP kind of person, but still pretty much a noob at the game. I downloaded the FTB launcher, and the most recent mod packs all have 150+ mods in them, which is too many for me, at least right now. So I guess I'm looking for some help - I don't really know the names of all the Mods I want to try, or which are compatible with which. I think Ex Nihilo might have been one - I don't remember.

I really want to use Tinker's Construct stuff. But I don't know what goes along with it. Just adding it to Vanilla Minecraft isn't /that/ exciting, since I want to be able to mine and create all the exotic ores like copper, damascus steel and stuff like that. I don't know what mod adds those though.

Also, I want the NEI stuff. It seems like everyone uses it, and I like what it does. I was messing around for about an hour last night with the FTB Infinity modpack, but I couln't really figure out how to get everything to work.

Other than that, I'm not too picky. I like the mod that adds rare/boss mobs, but I don't know the name of it. I think I saw that some of the special bosses like the Twilight Forest are their own mod pack, and I'm not too interested in that sort of thing.

So, I guess I'm really just looking for someone to point in the right direction. I'm not really too interested in browsing an actual Minecraft forum, since I feel like that would just be like jumping in the deep end.

Anarchy, you might want to check out the Technic Pack. It's more easy for people who are new to mods to look up the mods they want and find a pack which already have the mods they're looking for. For example, I wanted to play the millenaire mod (A mod where there are towns of NPCs that can go to war with you or each other, and naturally expand with time) so all I needed to do was type 'millenaire' in the search bar of the launcher, and it gives modpacks which have that in it. You're right that FTB tends to have some of the higher end modpacks (I tried one with 350 mods once. Never again).
