    Huh.

So I'm seeing the steamers at hr 100ish and I was like 'holy fuck, I thought I was playing a lot!'

Finish the game story, I went from 14 to 29. I had another quest in my log to kill two Bazelguese that I just ignored because i was farming. Eventually did it... Jumped to hr40.

    I don't get it, lol

They probably cap your HR until you finish certain quests. IIRC, there was something similar in previous games.

I've been watching a lot of videos and all the new little moves makes all the weapons so fluid. I really like the shelling on the HBG; gonna have to try that out.

I'm still waiting for PC release....

Beat the story. Got HR29. Took 66 hours.

Even though it gets a little exhausting at times, 9/10 game for sure.

I already got my Xeno armor set up, now let's try farming 9 Vaal claws -__-

I kind of have my mixed sets done for bow. Working on making all the weapons and grinding HR. I'm in the 40s I think?

I might make dual blade, switch axe and insect glaive sets too. I quite liked them in beta.

Wow. Tempered Monsters are rough. Specifically when they double up and double specifically when they put both in the arena against you...

Black Diablos was rough too. Easily one-shotting me with every hit and in a group - which I was in - it's so hard to predict his wild and erratic movements...

But on the plus side, I unlocked augments after that diablos investigation after getting two of the gems you need to augment weapons (getting those gems is all you need to unlock Augmentation, no quest or anything). Augmenting weapons needs mats I don't have yet, but I could augment my armour and the Rathalos/Lavasioth pieces I wear had their armour values jump from high 60 to mid 80s... it's an insane power spike.

I also got super lucky and got a Crit Up lvl 2 gem, which is perfect for my build. The only gems I need now are the rigged ones - like set piece bonuses...

I started with DBs, transitioned into LBG, and now I want to pick up a bow so bad. LBG is... very effective and ez mode, but it's kinda brainless and going back to camp mid-fight for more slicing is cancer. Bow just looks about a hundred times cooler.

I just beat the double tempered Bazels (pretty fun fight), what is the progression supposed to be from here? I hear the next "story" quest is HR49, and tempered Elder Dragons are at HR50. I jumped to 37 after my Bazel kills. Am I supposed to go on expeditions, hunt for tempered normal monster tracks, and kill those? Not quite sure...

What I mostly did after I got the gear I wanted was search for 9* sos investigations (they're always tempered monsters and gem rewards). I'm 48 now so next rank I'll unlock the quest that unlocks tempered elder dragons, which drop the super rare/powerful gems and augmenting mats.

    That's the end game.

Yo Clerith, before you abandon DB and all that, have a gander at this incomplete set/build I made:

The crux is the Teostera 3 piece set bonus that negates sharpness loss if you crit, so get 100% crit and profit (especially with Sin, which I THINK is the only white sharpness weapon in the game)!

I say incomplete because I need to use the Affinity Booster to get 100% affinity on monster weak points, but that'll be needless when I upgrade the charm to level 3 and augment my Sin to have 10 extra affinity.

If you watch the video, you'll see the entire time I'm attacking, as well as doing stupid damage, my sharpness never drops an iota until the affinity buff wears off - which will be a non issue as I said when I upgrade my charm, I need an Odo gem. Full gear/skill list at the end.

The gameplay might not be all that different, but I dunno about you, doing that much damage just makes it so much more fun for me, lol...

Why does Odogaron armour look so much better than everything else...? [IMG]

Soloed Xeno/Teostra/Kushala last night, and then spent a few hours dicking about, waiting for a friend who wanted to hunt Bazelgeuse, but never showed.

One thing I feel that could add to the endgame is a slight alteration to Expeditions, lifting something from the guild quests in 4U - Relic Equipment.

Relic Equipment could add to the endgame because it's effectively eternal - on the quest, you have chances to receive "rusted relics", which you have to polish at town. These are random, but weighted, so some quests are more likely to give you a LBG than a SnS, for example.
The 'level' of each item is also random, and weighted by what you're fighting. A double Teostra fight would almost certainly give you something better than 'slay five Aptonath'.
But all the stats are random - sharpness, affinity, raw damage/defense, which element, elemental damage/defense, slots/skills, and so on.

It means that if nothing in the forge catches your attention, you can just keep hunting until you get exactly what you want. And, whilst the Desire Sensor fucks you over, you get hundreds of weapons you don't use at all!

I've got loads of issues with the end game, but my three biggest peeves right now are:

    1. Bazelguese. It was cool the first time, but him showing up in every. fucking. mission and interrupting every. fucking. battle got old REAL fast. It should be scaled back so as to not rob players of that sense of awe.

    2. Tempered investigations. They drop too rarely. There are a disproportionate amount of people SOSing for them compared with how many are available. I basically have to spam X now while searching (so I can't voucher or decide if I actually want to go on that hunt) to even get in before it's full...

Right now there's 'guaranteed' threat level 3 monster 'clues' (or whatever) you can farm in expedition that have a tiny chance of giving you a tempered elder dragon investigation. Scrap that. Put 3 on each expedition map and make them guaranteed drop an investigation. I'd much rather be swimming in ED investigations than the tiny amount we have now to share with thousands of people...

    3. The SoS system in general. I only want to hunt tempered monsters and farm gems now. Having to specify investigations, rank 9, rewards available and sometimes a monster every time is dumb.

Nice DB build Hugs, even if a bit gimmicky. I've moved pretty much to ranged, though now longsword (full weeb yay) is calling me. I guess it's natural to want to try out various weapons. But man does it suck when you want to craft the best gear and farm mats for a build you use for one day.

Anyways, yes, the post game has quite a few issues. I'm 100 hours in, and I've felt my motivation to play drop fairly steadily while grinding decos from tempered monsters and elders. Like said, having to farm tracks for investigations is absolutely disgusting, they should just be available as quests, multiplayer is kinda broken with SOS - you spam for a few minutes trying to get into that one or two 9* investigations that show up every now and then and try racing with what feels like a coupla hundred people who can get in first.

If there was a better way to get into tempered fights, the postgame would be better, but it still feels like an utter lootbox rng fiesta.

I should add, I enjoy the combat (except when morons join and die constantly, ending the quest), so the rng isn't too much an issue (I WILL HAVE YOU PIERCING SHOTS AND MIGHTY BOW GEM), but getting into said combat repeatedly is a fucking nightmare.

I'm tempted to try hunting horn next. I was gonna do long sword but the Wyverians keep telling me every weeb on earth is using them so I'm going the opposite.

This game is taking such a long damn time to get to PC I've started playing Dauntless in during its open beta, its got some cool stuff but its not quite Mon Hun. I kind of got burnt out by the time pressure to grind limited events around Kulve Taroth and I just saw the promo for the FF14 crossover monster Behemoth. I'm not familiar with FF14 but he looks pretty beastly. Makes me wonder what skeleton hes using, maybe Zinogre or a bit of Rajang, maybe just a tweaked Odo. Would be great if it was a prelude to Zinogre DLC though. New festival is also coming up.

I enjoyed MH:W when I was playing it, but I got to a point where I had beaten everything, had the sets I wanted, and had my builds as good as they were going to get without hundreds of hours of farming.

It felt like I was doing the same things over and over for no real benefit.

Most games have content leading up to boss fights, but MH:W the boss fights are the content.

I can only kill the same ten things over and over again so many times before I decide it isn't worth it.

One day I looked at my console and considered playing MH:W, decided not to... and then just never touched it again.

Maybe I'll go back in a year and play for a while.

Also this. That big bastard was nothing but a ruiner of good times. "Oh you're having a great fight? It would be a shame if a giant flying asshole showed up and ruined it."

I then learnt about dung pods, or just got good enough to murder everything reeeeeal quick, lol. Including arch tempered Kirin.

I'm pretty much done with the game - after 300 hours... - until they let us craft layered versions of everything. Seems good, lol.

I stopped a bit after HR100, having done all content. Just before any of the dlc, I didn't even get to fight Jho. How's the dlc been? Did it make the game better or worse?

Nothing made the game worse. There's actually been lots of QoL patches.

Also, DJo actually had Jon and me squealing like little girls.

Lunastra (Teostra 2.0) had me wanting to headbutt things though.

Hmm... I really wonder what the userbase will be like. LOTS of noobs. Lack of Japanese vets. Probably smaller userbase than PS4? Depends on how popular it gets, but it's kinda late...

I have to admit I'm half tempted to buy it on pc too.
