    If I was JKR, I'd live in a castle, and my servants would be some of those fans dressed as house elves. Wouldn't that be a kick? That they would gladly serve for no other reward than being in her awesome presence is beyond doubt.

    While it isn't proven in canon; I don't think you need NEWTs for your career. During OOtP it is clearly stated that a person needs certain OWL scores, not NEWT scores to be an Auror.

    I think it did say you need NEWTs, but like in the Muggle world, if you can prove you have equivalent experience to qualifications you can be considered. I think Harry fighting and killing Voldemort would get him in in a shot.
