I wonder what that small favor, Daimen asked Zorian for is? Also the scene Fortov was satisfying.
It appears that Zorian and Zach may have unexpected help with summing primordial instead of waiting till they can do it all on their own. It's probably for the best because time is short and the quicker they can finalize some of their plans the better.
How many loops remains?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZVanJNuiZFmywxl4Vv57vBigADLIjhgXLYF85S8deJ4/edit#gid=0 Was an attempt to track all the loops. Looks like it hasn't been updated since Ch 52 though..
Anyone know any other resource that's tracking the number of restarts?
It has updated
Obviously stealing an airship is the only sensible solution. This does remind me that sometime in the past Zorian mused on how he'd never steal an airship and how pointless it would be. I wonder if there's anything else he said he wouldn't do that he'll backflip on.
Also the author who wrote Unspeakable Cults is like 98% a previous user of the gate. I'm pretty sure there are other people mentioned in the story who also obviously probably used the Gate although I can't think of any off the top of my head. Anyone got any ideas?
I am kind of disappointed that Zorian was so reluctant to read the book. After seeing the corpses of sacrificed children he dove straight into reading all about the mechanics of how bloodmagic works. Seems out of character for him to get squeamish about words.
As for other past users of the Gate, Ichl is my only suspect.
The reveal what was used to create the loop surprised me because I once planned to use a similar concept yet didn't consider the possibility for it here.
I suspect that Zorian didn't want to read it because he wasn't expecting it to have any relevant information for him. It's stated that the books don't actually contain any specifics about the magic.
I doubt Ichl is a looper and I wouldn't like him to be. I prefer him to be a "hard-working" necromancer who earned his power over centuries, not some cheater.
New chapter out.
Also this exists.
There is a new blog post about the different types of magic.
I somehow missed the new update.
Does the last line mean we will get Silverlake versus Ichl, even if it's indirectly?
I was thinking that Silverlake might sell them out to Ichl in exchange for some help with her immortality project.
But didn't she stated, she's already immortal? It's a youth she lacks.
I think you're right, actually. Alanic's comments about her backstabbing just had me thinking in that direction.
New chapter is up, and boy is it a doozy.
Yeah, no kidding. I feel like the pacing might be a little off this last chapter or two though, seems to be a little fast.
The moment he said he rarely used his old name I knew who he was but damn I did not expect this and I really want to know where it is going.
... Well then. I really didn't expect that. Gonna be very eagerly awaiting the next chapter after that particular revelation.
This chapter was kind of plodding along (most of the desert bits, really) but the last few paragraphs caught my attention again!
Fucking loved the ending to this chapter! Entire chapter was pretty good, honestly, but that ending...
I know that most here are savvy enough readers to understand, but I was reading a few of the reviews and it seemed like a lot of readers don't understand just how dangerous Quatach'Ichl being present is.
Zorian can't just use his exploding necklace to kill himself for protection. Dying is not going to help him against a necromancer as powerful as this guy. Zach dying should save them by ending the restart, but I'm not sure (or can't remember) if Zach has a nuclear option available like Zorian does.
There's also the fact that the Lich might pick up on the fact that Zorian has been studying soul magic - after all, if Zorian can discern that the Lich has a very placid soul then it's likely the Lich is able to notice Zorian's isn't normal for a human his age. That might mean that in a fight the Lich will go for the nuclear option and skip straight to using soul magic, which could fuck them over, as opposed to fighting more traditionally like he did the last time they clashed in a larger battlefield.
So yeah. He's a big, dangerous badass. But he's one that is more danger to Zach and Zorian than the other big, dangerous badasses in the world.
But damn, what a badass entrance, disguise, etc.
Personal interactions with him was one of four things I was expecting to happen for a very long time, but not that he will be the one to initiate them.
The rest three are:
- meeting the headmaster who lately is mentioned often enough,
- something to do with the vampire girl from the invasion forces,
- fighting a dragon because there is no way Zach will be the only one to do that before the loops are over.
Didn't Zorian figure out how to initiate a full restart using his copy of the Mark when he was testing it?
Yeah Zorian can restart at will as far as I remember.
