At the base of a mountain was a village, its wooden sign rotten and unreadable. Every window was dark and the well had been dry for ages. Nothing lived here, not a rat or a bird, and even sunlight stopped at its edges, powerless against the shadow of the mountain. In the center of the village was ruined a guillotine, blade dull with rust. Blood strained the earth around it from thousands of executions, and perhaps that was why nothing breathed or thrived.

    This was an abandoned place.

Until a bright yellow school bus sped through the entrance and swerved to miss a post before stopping abruptly. The doors opened.

“Finally!” someone said in a bright Hawaiian shirt and carrying two huge suitcases. “Fresh mountain air!”

Behind them came a dozen others, in sunglasses and sandals and designer handbags, all perfect for a mountain environment. “It’s been so long!” Another said, stretching. Laying on the ground was their surfboard. “When was the last time we had a vanilla game?”

One such vacationee knelt and kissed the disease-ridden earth. “I would like to dedicate this prayer to Arceus, who brought us this simple and beautiful game…”

As people opened doors to their new homes, one person sat on their alligator carrier, looked around, and started to cry.

“I thought… I thought it’d never end. The roles and the bullshit and all the mechanics talk and I thought it’d never end…”

Someone put a hand on their shoulder and after a moment, hugged, because such trauma deserved a big response.

In one of the houses someone tacked up a poster of Emilia from Re;Zero who is Objectively Best Girl and surveyed the rest of their ruined house before nodding approval.

“This will be a perfect vacation. In fact, why stop there? Why not stay forever? Mountainous always. Mountainous eternal. That’s what people want…”

From outside the window, a mystery person paused, looked in, then hurried off to the house at the edge of the village. Inside, a second mysterious person stood frozen in the middle of the room, eyes darting to the spider webs in each corner. Perhaps if they didn't move the spiders wouldn't get them.

“We have to do something,” the first person cried, slamming the door behind them and closing the moth-eaten curtains. “Or we’re going to get stuck with Mountainous forever!”

That snapped the second person out of it. “Mountainous forever? But Mountainous is boring!”

“Exactly! I know some of ours games have been role-heavy and been hell for scum, but without roles… That takes all the fun out it!”

“But how to stop it?” the second sat in a chair, unaware of the huge spider sitting below it and wouldn’t be aware until later that night. “We need to scare everyone away.”

“We have kill them. It’s the only solution.”

“Sounds legit.” The two people shook hands. “Let’s do it. By the time we’re done, no one will want to play Mountainous again…”

And as evil was being born, someone outside painted the village sign.

    VANILLA TOWN

    MOUNTAINOUS MAFIA #2

    -

    RULES.

    1. This is an eleven person game with nine town and two mafia. The game ends when the mafia outnumber or equal the town, or when the town wipes out mafia. This is also a flip game, where alignments are revealed when you die.

    2. You can trust all information I give you because I should be trusted always. I may be a mod and a bastard but I’m not a bastard mod.

    3. Day One lasts 96 hours of fun and delight, but all further Days will last 72 hours. Nights last a humble 24 hours.

    4. Don’t lie about real-life commitments and don’t question another player’s commitments. If you’re inactive and not participating, you’ll be replaced.

    5. No roleplaying. This may be a writing forum, but this game is about making arguments and murdering people, not necessity in that order.

    6. Mamoswine is the best.

    7. No coded references, hidden text, or anything like that, though I don’t know why you’d bother in this game.

    8. Respect players and their time. Don’t be an asshole. Don’t attack a fellow player as a person as we’re all here to have fun and enjoy ourselves. Also don’t be an asshole to me by trying to intentionally get modkilled, or threatening to try. Also also do your best, even if you role town/scum and hate rolling town/scum. You signed up so you knew the risks. Try.

    9. Don’t edit your posts. Don’t quote information directly from your QuickTopic, especially time stamps. Only living players (and me) can post in the thread, but don’t post at Night or I’ll have you arrested for breaking into my thread.

    10. Don’t communicate with anyone about the game except for me (privately) or with your living scummates if you’re scum (also privately). Ask your game-related questions in your personal QT and NOT in the thread.

    11. Don’t use out-of-game information (real life, forum/other mafia activity, chatrooms) to generate reads or influence people. Don’t mention any OOG information in the context of explaining or speculating on a player’s alignment in this game.

    12. Votes must be BRIGHTLY COLORED, bolded, and on a separate line. Any votes not following this format won’t be counted.

    13. This game uses a Hard Lynch / Soft Lynch system. Soft Lynch is a majority lynch. Hard Lynch is approximately 75% of the living votes. A Soft Lynch is sufficient to lynch a player at deadline. A Hard Lynch immediately ends the day. If Soft Lynch is not reached before deadline, there is No Lynch. If the votes are tied at deadline, there is No Lynch. When a Hard Lynch is reached, or the deadline occurs, whichever comes first, stop posting.

    14. Mass claiming is a wonderful thing, so here, let me help with the two types of QTs:

Hello, Reg, you are the TOWN HAPPY CAMPER!

You have no role powers, but you chose this because you believe you can beat off murderers with your bare fists and also democracy. Better try the latter first.

    Good luck!

Hello, Eidolonic, you are the SCUM UNHAPPY CAMPER!

Every Night you may kill another player in your shared Scum QT with your scummy friend, Vaimes. Anyone you target will die hilarious and wacky deaths and no one can stop it… as long as you’re not lynched.

    Scum QT: https://www.quicktopic.com/52/H/Lwc74GJm3AH

    Good luck!

There you go, now you can claim any role you want. :)

    15. Death flavors reveals no hints or alignments of living players. They are written for my own amusement.

    16. Moderator decisions are final.

    17. Good luck, and have fun!

    Let the game begin!

As a symbol of solidarity with the scum team, which has been marginalized by DLP's increasingly town-sided meta, I invite all townies to join me in pledging to participate in a minimum of two mislynches before this game ends.

    Wolves, we salute you.

To foil the wolves, we must lynch their N1 kill. Their entire game plan will be ruined.

Stealing is good, but if you want perfection, you also missed a "to" somewhere. I won't tell you where though, muahaha.

That's strange Jan, I have scumreads on Fluff Rubi and you. Only one us can be right. Luckily, we could also both be wrong.
