An AU third year in which Harry has absorbed Voldemort's memories from his scar in the Chamber, caused by the destruction of the Diary horcrux.

In a twist that will no doubt have many people here dislike it, but I find interesting, it looks like Ginny got a light version of this, getting the 16 year old Tom Riddle's memories.

Not an insta-super fic, but definitely accelerated awesomeness. Harry is mastering NEWT leveled spells towards the end of the third year (where we are now).

If anything, given that Harry has Voldemort's memories, the author hasn't made him good enough at magic. The author has talked about the how Harry isn't as good as Voldemort at magic because he only has memories, not practice, but this seems to be false to me. After all, he has Voldemort's memories of practising too.

His/her magical theory is rather uninspired too, drawing on the old magical core cliche. But at least this is done in a toned down way.

Particularly notable is the characterisation of Dumbledore. I like how he's kept the trio intact too, where it is so fashionable to break them up in stories like this.

More unfortunate is the cliche "Salazar Slytherin was actually an okay guy", but that's not too important to the plot.

We're got a reasonable about of AU deviation from canon events, but not radically so.

Overall I'd say this is bouncing between 3/5 and 4/5. I'll rate it as a 4 just to pre-empt potential bitching.

The fic is so full of cliches that I gave it up in the middle of the 3rd chapter.

Two weeks after getting all the memories he is fucking over the wards on his house, making uber wands(stronger than the elder one) with bassilisk fangs, blood and piss. He makes the usual indie!harry list with every possible subject on it, yet forgets to add the need to magick the author to stop writting such short periods and pausing the story every five words.

And I wont even go at "Our eyes cross, our minds linked and we are awesome scene between Harry'n Ginny.

Edit: At least his patronus is a dragon. That's just cool.

 

You know that's Harry using legilimency on her, right? It's not a soul bond or anything like that.

But yeah, the fic isn't great (thus saying it is bouncing between 3/5 and 4/5) but it's still a much better read that a lot of shit in here <_<

Having someone's memories =/= viewing a visual replay of their memories.

Harry, for all intents and purposes, is Voldemort stuck in Harry Potter's body with 11 years of Harry Potter's memories with Harry Potter's soul.

 

To this I say knowledge assimilation [see Butterfly Effect :awesome].

 

Dear god, someone send a beta this guy's way. The occasional mistake I can see, but all of these are repeated over and over and over and over again.



Butterbeers =/= butter bears
Tonks is a metaphor instead of a metamorphmagus
They don't hold trials, instead they are trails

The constant shortening of word and names:

Voldemort - Volde
The Leaky Cauldron - The Leaky or just plain leaky
The Room of Requirement - ROR or Room of Requirements


Other than that, this story has every conceivable cliche in the Harry Potter fandom with the exception of snake familiar, nice goblins, and the soul bond... and I'm not holding my breath for their absence in the future.

Setting all of these issues aside, if this story came out directly after OoTP then it would have an award winner. He doesn't bash every cliche over your head over and over except for the Super!Harry aspect which is getting kind of old.

Yuk, I haven't stumbled onto a bad HP fic in a while, just when you think you escaped them.

Everything I could name wrong's been said already so I give a 1/5 for it, interesting idea, but Ginny and Voldemort insta memories killed an extra star for me.

Lol, Harry can get insta memories but if Ginny gets them it's a problem?

Not quite logical, but okay.

And yeah, I bashed him in my review for sloppy language too. Particularly the "Volde" shit.

 

Having always been interesting in the concept of Harry getting Voldemort's memories, I started reading this one, in the batch you recently posted Taure, and well... its just average.

A lot of it just seems to be uninspired posturing, and frankly, him being on the world cup team so early is just ridiculous. Even still, it doesn't rate on the instant close meter, and i'll probably end up giving it a 3/5. Only half way through at the moment however. I'll edit this post if I have anything more to add later.

Ugh, gave up at chapter 8. Everything just seems to work out so sickenly great for then.

More of a 2/5 now.

 

oh come on taure. what happened to you? this story is definitely not a 3/5. the writing is so dull, small grammar mistakes all over the chapters, dialogues are so unrealistic and boring... the only thing that is good about it is the idea of absorbing not voldemort's but tom's memories. the idea is good but writing is really bad.

for me it is 2/5

 

Oddly interesting. The spelling and grammar got irritating at points, but it's a decent time-filler despite the ginger love. 3.5/5

I normally like super!harry (to some degree at least) but this was just a chore to read. The way Harry just came up with the answer to everything was quite painful to read from a first person perspective. I came to the beginning of chapter three before i pressed the red cross.

Have a talented author use this plot and I´m sure it would be awesome. 2/5 fore interesting idea but (very) poor execution.

 

The original plot premise is not bad, but the quality of writing is, at best, mediocre. The story is riddled (lol) with bad grammatical mistakes that are very irritating to read. The character dynamics need a revamp, particularly Harry's interactions with other people.

This is very good, i like it. It explains wand lore in better and more possible like details. Though I would have liked this as a Harry/Fleur story.

Okay, I read upto chapter 8. This story should be in the trash now. The first few chapters were good. But after Harry wanted to share all of his knowldge with hermione and ron, it started to suck. 1/5, worst Harry gets Voldemorts memories story ever. I think taure lost it, but I understand seeing all the trash and slash fics in fanfiction.net
