Have to agree with RA that this episode never really made it much past OK. It wasn't bad or anything, it just didn't draw me in the way most episodes do.

The one part I did really like was them subverting the standard end-of-episode aesop, with AJ pointing out that she didn't actually learn anything.

 

Actually, on watching the song again, it's not so bad. Kind of catchy. And apparently it's inspired by The Music Man, which I didn't actually get at first watching. Though I haven't seen The Music Man in a long while.

 

Have to say, really loved the message to Celestia this week.

Agree about the song, probably the worst one until one, imo.

Eh, just saw the recent episode and it kind of fell flat. Yeah, the Apple family made more cider than the others, but given how often the ponies were going away thirsty before, I didn't understand why they didn't do that before. If they could make enough for Ponyville in one hour (even with their friends' help), surely they could take five or six to make enough to sate most, if not all, ponies. And the machine was competent enough, it was clear that the brothers were making good cider before they switched off the quality control, so I didn't understand why the Apple family didn't simply push for a 50-50 partnership instead - the increased revenue from more sales should have offset the reduction in profit share.

So, yeah, the moral didn't really work for me. And the song was okay, I guess... the chorus was catchy but the rest wasn't really all that great.

I think Rainbow might have actually knocked Pinkie Pie off of the platform to become my favorite pony.
