Its a pretty good little oneshot. The writing style is excellent and the fic is beautifully written. Harry's reflections are moving and depressing. Harry comes of as a tragic hero as he is in canon. It was very enjoyable.

Joe is one of the best fanfiction writers out right now.

His Wastelands of Time and sequel is in my top 5 HP fanfics list.

But he wrote this oneshot almost a decade ago when he just started writing and quality wise that shows.

2/5, Harry's reflections are boring and unoriginal. There is nothing in this fic that makes it worthy of the library.

 

A good example of what diligence, hard work and DLP busting your balls will do for a writer. It's really short so I can barely rate it, but it's a 2.5/5 rounded up to a 3 for me.

There's a lot of repetition of words where there doesn't need to be, it's rather bland and doesn't come off as sagely and rather melodramatic than the epic that Joe writes today.

 

Sorry, but it is nothing really original, interesting, fascinating etc.

I dislike the style, epistolary form (this one may be just me), text that is bold and underlined (at least not italicized). And amount of ellipses (31 in less than 2000 words) is hilarious.

 

Joe is one of the better authors in the world of Fanfiction but this is clearly not one of his better pieces of work.

It is too philosophical and the thoughts of the harry in the one-shot show that he is resigned to his fate which is a large difference from the proactive get out my way motherfucker attitude harry has in his other stories.

I think that if this was written by a different author I would rate it higher but I came here to read about a harry who kicks ass and despite all the bad things that have happened to him is still hopeful about the war and instead i got a soppy deep thinker.
