Recently I've been trying to find fanfics with a more narcissistic, intelligent, perceptive Harry. Like a Gregory House of the wizarding world.

Any recommendations, or directions to point me in to find this?

 

Harry in Knowledge is Power is pretty narcissistic...(though you probably already read that)

 

I think you should have started this thread in 'Story Search' sub-forum.

But now that you have asked, I don't think there is any good fan fiction of your preference, which has been uploaded recently. Old ones, I presume you would have already read.

Although, Harry Potter and the Elemental Changes by Peeves' best friend, is a story involving smart Harry. I haven't read it, so I can't advice you on it's quality.

 

Yeah it started out as a 'hey, what would Harry be like with a narcissistic personality?'-type thread and ended up being 'Hey, have you seen this story?'. My bad.

Think you could name off some of the older ones, might happen across one I haven't read yet.

 

Few stories: The Other Side of the Coin, On the way of greatness, The tiniest wish, Unsung Hero,Knowledge is Power(H.P/F.D) etc.
They are only a few, and the best ones are already in the library.

 

What xanx is talking about is nothing like what you want, ignore him. Personally I haven't seen anything like what you are looking for.

As far as what you mean to ask? "What would Harry be like if he was narcissistic?" is a silly question because it makes little difference. Very little true change would happen to the main story.

 

Really, as far as I remember in 'Knowledge is Power', Harry considers himself above others and is very 'elitist'. In other fictions yes Harry is not quite narcissistic but he is perceptive and smart which is somewhat similar to what SilverOtter wanted.

 

Knowing you're better and being narcissistic things, and the sort of character he seems to be looking for is Greg House, so much more misanthropic than Harry is in any of those fics.

I didn't like this one very much. I only read up until Harry got his lordship in chapter 4 and I couldn't make it any farther.

Sadly I don't know any like that but I fucking love all things Byron and I am currently considering making the Harry in the series I'm still planning a Byronic Hero.

 

Okay, if you're looking for something in that particular vein... well, fuck, the only thing I can really think of are the two NC-17 oneshots I wrote that are Harry/Su Li (linked in the sig).

Outside of the self-destructive part (although some could argue Harry's behavior in those stories could be considered self-destructive), I think it might fit what you want.

 

I liked the first when I read it, but I haven't read the second one yet.

I don't really care for first person style of writing though. The only style I'm really comfortable reading is third person.

 

HP & the Methods of Rationality fits almost perfectly; all you have to do is keep in mind the narcissist in question is the douchebag author.

Another possibility is Draco664's Apprentice Potter sequels. Not what I'd call a narcissist, but Harry is definitely holier-than-thou.

And didn't somebody recently recommend a fic where Harry's character is modeled on the old Flashman books? That could be complete awesome-sauce in the right hands - a Harry worthy of Cormac Fuckin' McLaggen and his epic railroading.

 

The Code by Arturo is really what you're looking for. There might be a slight hang-up for you since the central character isn't named harry potter. But, you're not looking for harry potter, you want greg house of the wizarding world.
