Thanks guys. I've read The Biggest Chuunin Exam Ever, but it's been years since an update, so it's probably dead, which sucks. Captured is also one of my alerts, and it hasn't updated in a some months (although the author did post something else back in September), so hopefully it isn't dead. Will check out Menace's rec.

 

I've just read Captured and it doesn't contain either of those things - it is good though, good enough that I'm surprised to have missed it until now. The Person I Admire on the other hand, well I read the first chapter and it seems fairly shit, though if someone says it improves massively I might give it another try.

 

I read it a while ago, and it was damn good back then. Guess it didn't age all that well. For what it's worth I though it got a lot better near the end when I read it.

 

Hmm, I must have my fics mixed up. Yeah, I do. The one I was thinking of was another EdStargazer fic, The Will Born In Fire.

 

The problem with "The Person I Admire" is two-fold. One, it's old; the first chapter came out back in '05, so what was fresh back then is now cliche. Two, it's a pairing fic; 99% of fics that revolve around a specific pairing blow donkey-cock.

 

I read a fic sometime ago where Naruto starts off being trained by Jaraiya, and it was approached really well, he was even been taught stuff like battle strategies using seals and stuff, well that was before he started using blood clones and what not.

Anyway, is there a fic where, he actually gets trained and doesn't come back fucking everyone, especially Anko (Fanon has completely destroyed this character for me)?
